ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC
Almost every day I sit beside an excellent Coffee Truck in Doi Saket (retirement is like that!),
observing the passing parade whilst sipping on an iced Americano.
It's a good chance to meet interesting locals and, sometimes, chat about the bikes they arrive on.
I will add pics here as I get them.
Sometimes I am unable to get adequate details about the bikes so I am hoping subscribers to RA will be able to
add accurate information and/or interesting anecdotes.
Anyway, here goes.

1st January 2025

This little Yamaha Exciter RC starts off the new year.

We can go many days without an interesting bike and then many can arrive on the same day.
Always nice to chat with the riders about their bikes and travels.
Regards.

26th January 2025 (Australia Day)

A whole family on a Vespa called in for some take away drinks.

A young lad arrived on his near new (900kms) Honda CRF Rally 300.
He is a professional photographer and rides around with some friends photographing anything of interest.
He showed me some stunning images he had downloaded onto his 'phone.

I couldn't resist adding this 1300 VW Beetle (although the owner informed me he had it worked into a 1600cc).

This touring couple called in, mainly to check the weather because they were about to set off for Nan on their rented Honda 500X.

And the owner of this delightful Kawasaki Boss 175 has only arrived today to reside in Chiang Mai.

Some interesting bikes in this lot. I'll head out for a coffee (after my eye op)

10th February 2025

A couple of days ago a Thai rider arrived on his pride and joy.

A Honda Super 70 spiced up with a Tiger 125 engine.
Sounds great too.
He is as proud of this as anyone I have seen here at the Coffee Truck.

8th March 2025

A Swiss friend arrived on this behemoth; a Harley Davidson Heritage Softail.
During the conversation he admitted it is becoming too cumbersome for him and he will put it up for sale.

I will put details in the Classifieds section.

Yes mate, likewise I owned the first model Tenere 600 when I was working in Central Oz and it ate up those long, dusty, corrugated roads. The huge tank was very handy too, giving me a long range. Loved that bike.
This one of Greg's is world famous because of the international travelling it has done with Greg as pilot.

It's been called "Frankenstein" because of the many non-Yamaha parts on and in it to keep it rolling. This model was never imported to Thailand, so while passing through we had to use what would work, like a Kawasaki voltage regulator and now some Honda turn signals. It was also called "The Beast" because of the way in handled when loaded with travel gear in the wet jungle tracks or deep dust or sand. Some parts have come from the States, others from Europe. For a while a woman's nylon stocking was used as an air filter. It's now an objet d'art looking for a new resting place. Likely 100,000 plus kilometers on it, hard kilometers. This model design (Tenere) was based on the Paris-Dakar race machines entered by France and was the # 1 choice of many overlanders like myself in the mid to late 1980s.

NOTE: This CRF is a survivor of the two "Great Floods of 2024." Water rose up to just below the seat. No muddy water made it into the engine or electrics. It's slated for use in part of my attempt at a 7th "RTW ride,

The owner of the chicken wrap stall in the background has this Benelli 250 which he has modified himself.
He said the tyres (wheels?) are from a Triumph.
