Also I assume I will have to leave my passport as a deposit on the bike, so will stuggle getting across the border. My timings are very brief, limited by work and family commitments. :cry

Chris - you can leave a cash deposit instead of your passport if you are taking a Thai registered rental bike into Laos

Just come out of the woods, man the trails where tuff, a dozen water crossings a day, Mud,sand, rocks, ruts as big as me and lots of dust.....resting up today....
