Theft of 3 rental bikes in Chiang Mai and Chiang Rai

Did you lose a bike in China Butch?

thieves (experienced ones) work a jammer and a scanner, once the installed GPS bike tracker is located and disabled… no need for the jammer to be switched on anymore.
ever heard of the four blokes - two bamboo pole method…. same goes for bikes with just a Disc lock or U-lock, two skateboards (front/rear wheel) make even a heavy motorbike very moveable with the Disc or U-lock still in place and lets not get into the insulated vans that jam any signals for two wheeled vehicle theft….

ps: if they want the vehicle they will get it ~ one way or the other…..

in 24+ years of bike ownership in PRC (quite a collection of bikes through the years) I have not lost a single bike yet, knock on wood hard three times.
well - bike theft is everywhere in Red China and we cannot insure motorbikes against theft anymore for many years….
there are well known markets scattered all over the motherland selling stolen motor vehicles of all sorts (stolen overseas or domestic with rego plates still attached).

ps: as with everything in the middle kingdom, $$$$'s talk and GPS tracking data for expensive and / or exotic motor vehicles (bikes / cars) can be bought on the black market and who really wants to display routine routes or regular parking spots….
yes, we have naive "experts" in this country by the bus load that really believe once they have kitted out a motor vehicle with a GPS tracker they are safe ~ day dreamers!!!
