Indian motorbike journalists had their first chance to test ride the bike around Shimla last week. The weather conditions were poor and did not allow thorough testing; I believe no one got out of 3rd gear. This is the best of the road test videos that I've seen.

Royal Enfield's Himalayan adventure bike may be one of the coolest things that happened in the long history of the Indian house, but seeing a rendering showing it in a Dakar-ish rally-raid guise is funny. Dakar Rally, tough as nails, nah not yet.....

But I hope that RE fixes the issues and gets customer service/satisfaction under control......

Interesting comparison. Genuine is what they are calling Stallions in the USA.

Seems the Himalayan sales in Thailand has started from today, at the Motor Show. Will check for the price.

Price is not yet known in detail but should be below 200.000 baht.
First deliveries in Thailand are scheduled end 2017, hopefully in the cold season.

I had a look at some Stallions in Chiang Mai today

The choke

A fuel tap, these are not fuel injection bikes but old lawn mower technology, they still have carburettors.

If I had to choose a bike from that list I would go for the Yamaha any day.

Interesting how the Honda on that list is an old one, a better comparison would be the CB 300F which would match any of them on performance but probably beat them all on fuel economy

Nice bike but for the price I still think you get more with a Stallions Scrambler 400 at 116,900 baht. Has 4 valves not 2, 29hp as opposed to the Royal Enfields 24.5hp, lighter at 160kg vs. 191kg for the Enfield and both are EFI.
