Engine oil thread

In pattaya i can buy Motul Technosynthesise 300v for 380bt a litre ,,,, 1100bt LITRE IS A RIP OFF PRICE

Where?

That can't be the same stuff or they'd be sold out in a week. Even on ebay US its $20 per litre bottle.

I have to aplogise for an error ,, i have not been using Motul 300v recently , but the next grade techno synthetic ester available in LOS which is Motul 5100 at 380 baht a litre but its still excellent in my ducati ,degrades very slowly , shear charachteristics are very good ,,,

I'm using a similar spec oil available in Cambo

Total 4T 10w50 Fully Synthetic $6/liter, but its really highly refined mineral oil

Hi-Perf 4T Racing SL 10W50

Tried to track this down... There's a Total oils distributor in CM but they don't carry that oil as of yet. Said they might start later this year and would call if they do. If can for $6 equivalent a litre here, that's what I'd use. Cheaper than the 10w/40 synths available here and better top viscosity for Thailand temps.

My two new, 2011 and 2013 Hondas are supposed to use a 10/30 oil, a friend who is in engineering and read up on oil says its because the thinner oil is better for the environment at the detriment of engine life so I should stick with the 10/40 that I have always used. I would be interested to hear others views on this

^ don`t know about the environment Cap but i have always stuck with what`s recommended by the manufacturer and in a hot tropical climate favor a little on the thicker side.

Loop, these are in the UK and in the summer sometimes the temperature exceeds 30C

I would not use anything less than 10-40 in Thailand due to heat but 15-50 is better it lasts longer befor breaking down under the heat cycle stress
