China Bike Shops + Dealers

TB - Any idea of the price of a road registered KTM 500 EXC?
mate asked today and they have no immediate plans to bring in the 500EXC.
hard-core off-road bikes are not very popular with the China riders, needs to be big and expensive to impress people.

see below please, gives you a rough idea.

KTM officially entered the Chinese market, introducing a number of popular models (prices in RMB):

1190 KTM ADVENTURE price: 225,000. 150 horsepower, seat height 860/875mm, 212kg, six-speed gearbox, slip clutch, standard BOSCH 9ME ABS brakes, Brembo forged calipers, has four driving modes adjust, MTC traction control system, standard 19-inch front / rear 17-inch spokes vacuum wheels, tire pressure monitoring, EDS Electronic WP high performance suspension system, anti-shakes, LED daytime running lights, height-adjustable windscreen, standard comfort front seats and the latest MSC separate vehicle stability system.

KTM 1190 ADVENTURE R price: 230,000. 150 horsepower, seat height 890mm, 217kg, six-speed gearbox, slip clutch, standard BOSCH 9ME ABS brakes, Brembo forged calipers, has four driving modes adjust , MTC traction control system, standard 21-inch front / rear 18-inch spokes vacuum wheels, tire pressure monitoring, extended front and rear suspension travel (220mm), high-performance multi-stage adjustable WP suspension systems, anti-shakes, Configure pull-type comfortable seats, engine protection bars, tinted windshield and sport the latest BOSCH MSC standard vehicle stability system.

KTM RC8 R price: 258,000. 175 horsepower, seat height 805/825mm, six-speed gearbox, standard slip clutch, chrome molybdenum alloy frame, aluminum subframe. WP multi-adjustable front and rear suspension settings, standard anti-shakes, Brembo four-piston calipers forged, purely mechanical violence experience.

KTM 690 DUKE price: 128,000. 68 horsepower, standard ABS brakes, WP shock absorbers, 149kg. The newly designed body, headlights and side exhaust allows the 690 DUKE to appear "tougher".

KTM 690 DUKE R price: 148,000. 70 horsepower, 149.5KG. R version adds engine protection bars, Brembo forged calipers, Akrapovic exhaust, Scorpio front and rear adjustable compression, preload WP shock absorbers, longer front and rear suspension travel (150mm) and a CNC cut-down, let 690 DUKE R appear more aggressive. Standard ABS. 865mm seat height.

KTM 390 DUKE price forecast is about 50,000. KTM 390 DUKE localized version is expected to be on sale in the spring of 2014. 139kg. 44 horsepower, 800mm seat height, WP inverted fork, standard ABS system.

KTM 200 DUKE price forecast is about 40,000. KTM 200 DUKE localized version is expected to be on sale in the spring of 2014. 129.5kg, optional ABS.

KTM FREERIDE 350 price: 138,000. 99.5 kg featherweight body, seat height 895mm. Can be plated in China

KTM 350 EXC-F price: 156,000. 107.2kg, seat height 970mm, maximum ground clearance 345mm, has a longer rear suspension stroke setting (300/335mm). Can be plated in China.

================

It appears that a "localized version" of the 390 DUKE and the 200 DUKE are being manufactured somewhere inside China. I've been unable to find out who KTM might be working with, but it most likely will be an existing Chinese manufacturer (perhaps CF-Moto?). More information is probably somewhere in the Chinese moto-news, but I'm too lazy to chase it down. If it is a 2014 release, KTM must be currently (Oct, 2013) hustling its bunnies to get ready.

PS: a good mate tried to clean up some of the translation from Chinese -> English, kudos to him....

All the KTM bikes listed in my above post (#40) can be registered and plated legally in Shanghai and Beijing and most probably in the rest of the motherland.
Crossing borders and export / import of China plated / registered bikes are always a challenge but that a totally different story and lets not discuss in this thread please to keep this thread on track.

Curious to see the Chinese prices for the M.I.T. Honda's, the CB500 and CB650 series?!

Curious to see the Chinese prices for the M.I.T. Honda's, the CB500 and CB650 series?!

Sorry, did not enquire about any pricing as the bikes on display are really not my taste and seems they are only in soft opening mode and let us two foreigners on bikes in for a quick peek.
Honda, was thinking along the lines of Honda dual-sport bikes like CRF250 and XR650 that can get a plate / rego but this type of bikes might not be attractive to Chinese - dual sport bikes = not big and flashy enough to show off....

FHL Beijing www.fhlmotor.com still has a Suzuki shop with the "perfect" China road bikes for sale on display nearby the newly opened Kawasaki dealership.
Unfortunatly no business cards or info was available from the highly alerted "food-coma-sleeping" security guard during my recent visit.

Butch - How many BMW 1200 GS's do they sell a month in China? Any Guess?

Mate, an awful lot and not able to publish the exact numbers for various reasons but they can't get them fast enough into the country since they re-launched the BMW Motorrad brand last year with new dealers in Beijing and Shanghai.
If I tell you the numbers on legally imported motorbikes sold per month like BMW / Ducati / HD you think i am either lying or on hardcore drugs.....
TIC = This Is China and everything luxury has to be big and expensive ~ never mind the buyer is too small to handle a GS12 or GS12ADV (just barely tiptoeing in the dealerships sitting on GTL and GS bikes bolted to the solid metal display stands).
They walk into dealerships and buy BMW HP4 Performance Edition, Ducati Panigale R, Suzuki Hayabusa, etc. and never ridden a motorbike in their life before.... go figure...

The first lot of the newly China launched BMW RnineT is selling like crazy as well, actually perfect size for Asian's due to low seat height and size.

Sidenote: went past the Honda Dream Wing dealership in Shanghai today, stopped to get a takeaway coffee from Starbucks ~ walked in and enquired once again about legal imported Honda CRF250L and XR650L bikes ~ no plans to import in the future was told as no interest from Chinese motorbike customers....
