During a trip up and around Mae Sai i decided to make a visit to Wat Hua Mae Kham, Auke had visited there some time ago and i was interested to see this remote Wat, the monk was an understudy of the now famous Phra Kru Ba at Wat Maa Tong, The Golden Horse Monastery i visited the next day, he is there alone with a couple of horses on this remote hilltop and a handful of kid's that stop by to lend a hand, access is from 4026 the road up is dirt but easy with a little care even on a road bike.

The Wat is located at N20.36131 E99.48287 near the large army checkpoint.

Dozens of casts for the various decorative moulding all over the place, cleverly constructed with a latex rubber liner.

As i talked to him i noticed a well used martial arts workout dummy, i asked him if he still used it and he treated me to a pretty spectacular display as he went to work on the dummy but refused to allow me to take pictures of him using it.

As i left i offered him money for the building work which gratefully accepted and in no time at all scaled the scaffold and was back to work on the roof.

A very interesting man and well worth a ride up to make a visit and if you can donate some money to the construction.

Is there still a boxing ring at the horse temple? Apart from looking after the horses, the novices were training to box when I visited a number of years ago.
