John Olson, known affectionately to his Chiang Mai riding friends as "Crazy John" was one of the nicest, fun-loving guys you could ever meet, no one had a bad word to say about him -ever!
On the 12th May, 2013, after riding off-road on a Honda CRF 250-L from Mae Rim to Mae Hong Son, while John & a friend were returning, John hit a Telephone company truck, killing him on R 1095, his body was taken to Mae Hong Son hospital.
John's is from Norway & his family have decided to repatriate his body to Norway.
Darryl & I had arranged to do a motard ride with John this week & of course this can now never ever happen again. He was a happy, party guy, I can remember him at the Khon Kaen Bike Week Party slamming a hand into a melted ice bucket on a packed table covering everyone around the table in water, luckily they all found it funny!
Tonight (16th May, 2013), there was a remembrance ceremony/ vigil for John at Wat Mae Rim, 14km north of Chiang Mai, I would estimate 150 people were in attendance.
RIP John, you were one of the best guys here, you will be missed by many.
