They're in Chiang Mai after a couple of day's hard riding, the first day - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to Phitsanalok, Thailand in one day.

22 Vietnamese high capacity bikes, they all looked pretty hot when I met up with them in Chiang Mai.

All of them are on pretty new, 1,000 cc + bikes. 3 of them have some minor niggly problems with their BMW's, none of them being of a tour stopping nature.

Quick trip down to Barcelona BMW to see if we could get them fixed.

Hey. Thank so much Phil.
My team would never forget! Wish I could be there with you guys....
More photos please.

Excellent. Where are they headed next?

I know that they will have lots of fun the Phil. They are all young and not only loud, I think they also ate a lot :lol3!!
Looks like you need to buy more land to get such team to park their bikes later on. Guys told me that the area seemed not large enough for them :LOL

Just copy some photos from our site to continue the thread.
Here 's what ACE MTSG big bike team were at 4:30AM center of Hochiminh City - Vietnam

Some nice photo's from the journalist there Viethorse.

What a great group of guys & girls & what a trip - Thai Police escort, that would do 200km/h for them and treating them with VIP status, quite amazing, all seemed very well organized. As of last night, they had planned to go to Doi Inthanon today as they had realized from talking to Auke & I that they wouln't be able to do the MHS loop in a day on the Goldwings. They laughed initially when we told them their average speed would be 60km/h around the MHS loop - "we can average 180km/h no problem", they said, then they gave it some thought.

Yep, a terrific group from Vietnam; we all had a fine time at Riders Corner last night.
Well done Khun Som, Phil and staff for catering for us all so effectively. The buffet was definitely the way to go.

I was invited to sit with a couple of riders, offered a beer and we chatted for an hour about a variety of things from Africa Twins, to French missionaries in Vietnam, to the delights of Nha Trang, to the history of the Vietnamese script, to caring for elderly parents ...... on and on.
Taking one rider shopping for a new rear tyre later today. He'll carry it home to HCM City on his bike.

Only one regret was not being able to meet Mr Trung.

Enjoy the rest of your tour guys; I have a distinct feeling that you will! :DD

Thanks for the photo's 2wheels. Which bike needed the new rear tire? I would try Yamaha Square, Kawasaki & you could try Sa Moto too.

The guy who shared his table with me has an AT back in HCM City Phil; can't get tyre there.
I have a Metzeler from my ex ride which he can have if he wants, otherwise we'll try as you suggest.
G3 (Tom) near US Consulate was always good when I needed tyres.
Thanks.

They're in Chiang Mai after a couple of day's hard riding, the first day - Ho Chi Minh, Vietnam to Phitsanalok, Thailand in one day.

Fairly impressive riding that far on those bikes in such a big group through those countries in 1 day!!

How many hours?

Thank you Ron. My bad is not making myself available for this trip. Gotta see you one day.
As sai before guys, we are miles eaters! If in Vietnam we can do 600-700km / day, so there is no reason we can not make 1000km/day or more in Thailand.
Believe me, if you can ride well in Vietnam, there is no road make you scare of. LoL !!!

Talking with one of Viethorse's group last night, he estimated the cost of the trip arrangement, which included -

a) 2 tour guides

b) police escorts from Ho Chi Minh City "VIP Style" to Chiang Mai and back

c) Hotels

d) Food

Was around USD $ 1,600 per bike, splitting between 23 bikes (IE USD $ 36,800). The tour cost did not included fuel or alcohol.

Hotels- the tour guide picked the Ping Payom Hotel in Chiang Mai, which was a good choice for the size of the group

They were all senior professionals from Vietnam, most of them in their 30's, some were directors of Vietnamese banks etc....

This Ducati Multistrada was USD $ 42,000 in Vietnam
