Thanks for the informative video, amazing how different crossings have different charges, i crossed at Huay Khon near Nan a few weeks ago on the Thai side no charges, on the Laos side we got hit 35 dollars (or 1,400 baht) 120 baht immigration and 250 baht customs fee's.

BTW i exited at Chiang Khong arrived at 6.15 PM, no fee's either side and no escort !!!

Coming back in may be a bit different, no fee for Thai visa all the paperworks done just has to be handed in for both you and bike.
I talked to a Russian guy who crossed into Laos that day also, he had it pretty much identical as I did. It does seem every border has it's own set of rules all throughout SEA with any number of things that can and can't happen, I knew that when I posted this but it gives the uninitiated some idea on the process at the Chiang Khong border post, I had no idea what to expect and even if I would be knocked back from entering Laos all together so hopefully it helps someone behind me be a bit more at ease with it..
