With all the issues that gasohol has, especially storing the bike after the riding season, I was thinking if Aspen fuel or some fuel stabilization additives might be a solution for these problems.

Anyone have experience here in Thailand?

A simple solution is to drain all the fuel. No gasohol, no problems.

Just wondering
Are you in an area that doesn't have Benzine 95 from the yellow pump ?
I was told thats non ethanol, but living in Cambodia I'm not up with the latest on the ethanol situation in Thailand.

Hi Bill, thanks and yes 95 ron is available here without any alcohol.
The issue is that even that petrol deteriorates in our climate and quite fast!

Draining the tank is one option, that is OK if the tank is non metal.
You will need to drain the carb or deplete the fuel from the injection system too!

If you do that with a metal tank rust will be a big enemy.

Additives or Aspen and a full tank will make the fuel last for a year or so, that sounds a solid idea?

There is some info from 2011 on the "other" forum.

Personally in my petrol equipment, generator, weed wackers, spare bikes , I drain them, run the motor until the system is dry and then drain the bowls etc for storage. May be possible to leave the fuel in the tank and only run the carb/ injectors dry, and then drain the tank prior to reuse ? I understand some bikes have vacuum fuel taps or none.

Regular use seems to be the only reliable way around it, but obviously not always practical.

When still in Holland we used Aspen in the generator and the classic bikes that were used only a few times per year.
Maybe I will need to drain the little 2 stroke generator, problem is when you need it you need to get 95 ron petrol, mix 1:50 two stroke oil, fill the tank and by the time you are done the power dip is over. :?

Thanks for clarifying that. Makes sense.
