First draft plans are underway to repatriate refugees back to Myanmar according to this report.

Mae Pa, Thailand – The UN’s refugee agency unveiled a draft plan this week detailing how to carry out the voluntary repatriation of 110,000 refugees residing in Thailand’s camps, drawing mixed reactions from camp leaders.
Thailand currently has more than 110,000 refugees from Burma residing in nine camps along the border. Open for more than 30 years, recent talks of repatriation has sent shockwaves through the camps as refugees remain wary about Burma’s current nominally civilian government. There are still reports of fighting within various parts of Burma, including Karen State, where the majority of the refugees are from.

Hi Bob

Back in 2014 me and a friend had a ride out to Mae Sariang , heading west out on the 1194 we hit the border river between Thailand and Burma at a town called Mae Sam Laep I think was the name , this whole area is great for riding , we started to head south along the river on a dirt road not knowing were it would take us views was stunning , was riding Honda CB 500 X at the time so not the best bike for the roads , after about 70km going south and not having GPS signals on our phones we decided it would be best to start heading east to try and pick up the 105 running a bit low on fuel at the time.

When we came across one of these Burma Refugee camps, we hit a manned check point first which was manned by local village people , not sure if these guys was going to let us pass, we was lucky that just then one of the village locals who could speak very good English happen to pass and explained the check point was set up to stop intruders from Burma coming over to kill the village people ??? which he said has happen in the past .

He then went on to explain that none of the local Burma village people can leave the camp as you will find further on the other side of the village there is a Thail Army check point to stop all people from leaving the village.

I asked him how do you get food, clothes ect in , he goes on to explain its only because some of the Burma men/ladies have married Thails that these people are allowed to leave and bring back much needed supplies ?

The Village was set deep in the jungle with the most beautiful scenic river running through the middle .
Here are a few pictures

I loved the area so much I need to visit the village again if I can find it , was one of the best day out riding in Thailand , hope you enjoyed it as much as me.

Days like this beats China at its best
