Trip Info Required.

Have been asked by a new user to see if we can offer information regarding border crossings etc for an upcoming trip.


"For 15 years I have been traveling NE India. In 2015 I would like to bring my motorbike from USA, and ride it from Singapore, through Malaysia, Thailand, Burma, & into NE India. From your experience can you tell me what border requirements I will face. Any information, even partial will be much appreciated".

Can't point to hard information on it, but I seem to recall that those who took bikes into Singapore found it quite expensive. Its probably better to fly into Kuala Lumpur and do a loop down to Malacca. I came into Malaysia via Indonesia on a carnet... no problems. Didn't ride in Singapore, but have been there plenty of times without missing the bike..... Getting into Thailand was easy... but they forgot to give me the temporary import papers, so there was some minor consternation when I was leaving again, easily sorted. There's a few threads on the Burma entry issue. Burma to India?
