Had a friend tried to purchase a Yamaha FTR 223/ flat tracker looking motorcycle. It had registration and valid road tax. When they tried to transfer ownership, at the inspection in Chiang Mai, the Govt. inspector put the first 4 digits of the frame VIN into his Ipad and a Honda CBR 250 picture came up.
He said the ownership could not be transferred, but current ownership was ok and the road tax could be renewed.
Be careful of unusual motorcycles even if they have valid road tax, you might not be able to get it registered in your name.
