Thoeng is a good place to start an early morning trip to Phu Chi Fah via the 1155 or to do an early morning border crossing (hopefully) at Phu Sang/Ban Huak.New Thai/ Laos border crossing at Ban Huak

Apart from two hotels and a few 24 hour resorts Thoeng has a nice place to stay since May this year, it's called Teak Villa and has nice wooden details. The room charge is 400 Baht/night.

Bikes can be put in front of your room if downstairs or behind the building.
The view is great, over the Ing river where you can sit and enjoy a beer from the 7-11 at walking distance.

Also very close are the famous Thoeng prawn restaurants.

Forgot to tell, Thoeng has a very decent collection of evening street food stalls in front of the town hall.
