Well as I have mentioned to a few, I hope down the rd to have a workshop to tinker in, and like the idea of a VW derived kit car as a toy.. (questionable legality but can be done off the old VW registration) is one thats strongly in mind. The VW kits can use the VW floorpan and running gear and are not a bad entry level skills needed for a first build. Its just a 'down the rd' idea as theres so little thats here on the market as a fun car to tinker with.

So I am down at the metalwork shop.. And what comes in ??

Kit in from the states (customs permitted it all !!).. Donor chassis on a Thai reg.. Toyota engine.. Good sound, looked the part.. suicide doors.. Full on man toy !!

Had a good chat with the owner (Russ ?? Ross??) a American fella.. Realized later theres 100 questions I would like to know the answer to.. But for sure exactly the kind of garage project I want to do something like.. What he mentioned of the costs seemed fairly reasonable also..

Come on.. That looks fun..

Hey LOS, if that was Russ in Chiang Mai, he has had a few cars like this, he does a good job.

Classic Cars of Lanna (a group of old car enthusiasts) draw some kit cars into their group too.

Check their site out here ...

Yeah am pretty sure it was Russ not ross..

Nice guy but we were both getting stuff done so had other priorities.. But since then wished I got a contact as I would trade beer for war stories on the issues involved on getting the kit in.. Who he used to customs clear etc..

Like I say, thats a toy car of the first order.

LOS that is fantastic 4wheeler...

Ally that is nice organization and very interested to keep looking for them as in TH usually everything is in BKK...and in this part i have one in 60km away in Yasothon,, but they dont have any web page and as far i know not so much activities other than meeting maybe 1time per year...
