The change of seasons happened late this year, a few days ago, still drizzly and humid, today a completely differenet feel to the weather. Bright, hot, but you could feel the chill in the air, looks like the rain is over.

With Colin still in Chiang Mai for a few days, we'd initially planned a semi-dirt route, but some riders were coming not set up for that so we stuck to the road

I think the Stupa on top of the hill is called Phratat Mon Phrachao Lai while the temple at the lower level is called Wat Phra Chao Luang. Wat Luang Rat Charoen Tham is located more to the south - take the road to the left just past the big PTT petrol station coming from the Chiangrai side and in a few hundred meters you will see the Wat Luang Rat Charoen Tham.

By the way, did you get in the interior of the Phratat - there is a very small door in the base and inside you will find lots of Buddha statues - see here: http://www.rideasia.net/motorcycle-forum/thailand-ride-reports/4015-phrathat-mon-phrachao-lai.html

Looks like the Viz has come back also, nice pictures and NO rain !!!!!!

^ yeah nice vis and lovely green countryside.

Enjoyable day out.

Looked like a great day out you all had- great pictures. Sorry I couldn't make it!

They have this banner up at the Stupa , Som tells me it says " Wat Luang Rat Charoen Tham", looks like you're right that the two are connected.
