Destination, Koh Lanta, a beautiful island, off Krabi, Southern Thailand with very warm and hospitable people. Koh Lanta's scenic beauty may not quite compete with some other areas in the province. However, if you're looking for complete peace and quiet away from the bustling tourist areas, with a few home comforts, it's there!
This time round it is just me and wifey. Set off at 2230hours and cleared the 800km Malaysian North South Highway 8 hours later. We were about 10km away from Hatyai town when we were faced with flood. Apparently the town was flooded up till my shoulder height. So, we turned back and spent the night in Dannok. Next day set off to Koh Lanta via Trang... bypassing Hatyai town.
I'm not a speed demon but The North South Highway was empty so the throttle was begging.
Rain after entering Thailand
Water was high on the other side of the road
The police didn't let us pass through.
So we head back to the border town of Dannok.
The next morning, we continued and make a detour away from Hatyai
Cruising along 4206
Ferry ride to Koh Lanta Noi
Another ferry ride to Koh Lanta Yai
Nothing like Samui or Phuket, but it's a perfect place for a couple of days retreat if you need a quiet place.
Ventured on some back roads to get to the lighthouse but in the end it was too much for the rhino to handle. The scattered gravels were merciless and we decided to make a U turn.
And chose to enjoy the sunset instead
A morning walk by the beach
We had a room with beautiful sunset by the bay.
Heading back south
Stopped by Kuala Lumpur to meet some friends.
