I was heading uphill from a stopped position for both "incidents". Throttle was wound up a bit but clutch did not engage. This was while the odometer read <300km. Maybe I should have not played so hard with the bike for another 200km or so.
My first rescue was by some friendly locals near my home in Mae On.
Second rescue was by that fishenough guy. Talk about dropping everything. He drove all the way from Chiang Mai to the local mountains to get me. I was lucky I had cell reception where it happened.
The Lifan dealer was quick to repair the first time and I think they did a superficial job. The second time they replaced some internal parts (not sure which) and I have since been good to go.
I expected growing pains for a <50K baht dirt bike.
PS - The Lifan repair shop is a horror-show. Heavy housekeeping is in order if they want to have a shop that looks like Honda or Kawasaki's here in town. Most of us know that good housekeeping is a probable sign of good workmanship. I'll keep hoping.
