Figures released in Thai press today based on Stock exchange holdings and ''known'' assets show Thailand s top 40 Families own 1,73 Billion Baht thats about 40% of the total Thai Gross national product of 4,5 Billion Baht list incudes Shinawatras and Yubumrungs
and 36 of those families have links to government with family members in Parliament, miltary and police positions .

of the top 500 families it is estimated from known stock and asset holdings that they control 74% of the countries wealth and assets

thats obscene .and that why things are unlikely to change

% figs might still be correct though.

4.5 Billion baht as a GDP is only US $ 150 million. Just a fraction of what it really is.

Thailand GDP is about US $ 345 Billion, or a shitload of baht.

The figures came from 3 Thai papers and the Nation , and Financial times info pagea for GDP I misread billion instead of trillion

1m $ is 30 m baht so 1Billion $ is 30 Billion Baht so 1 Trillion $ is 30 trillion Baht

In USA and UK tops 20% own 70 % of the country but in Thailand its only the top 1% that owns 70%
