As we were blessed with some lovely sunshine this arvo I thought I'd blow some cobwebs out of Big Daddy and do a wee shopping blat...... straight down the "Twisty Bit" highway to Thung Kwian, about 30klm short of Lampang to pick up some prized local "Sai Oua" Northern spicy sausage.

I absolutely adore this stuff, and it's worth doing the mileage to find a classy one..... this is 300 baht/kilo..... they're all slightly different weights...... I picked 3 pcs up for 780 baht so that'll keep me very happy for a while! I'm a huge fan of fusion cooking so if and when my planned cafe kicks off up here in the Northern environs I'll be looking to serve regular sized Sai Oua snags with yer bacon, eggs and beans...... watch this space!! :D

Spicy breakfast!
I know of some farangs that make their own sausages in the North, they are acclaimed to be very good.
Also there is a farang supplying artesinal soft cheeses, he sells them mainly to hotels.

I'm pretty sure they are pork, but I can ask Pun later today.

On the market in Thoeng they are sold too but not in this pretty shape.
Even the mildly spiced is still hot, we never take the spicy one.
I often combine some with my first afternoon beer, just to raise appetite for dinner :DD

Yes, they are pork. I heated some up this evening and snacked 'em with a glass of Thatchers oak aged Green Goblin Cider...... bliss!

As an aside, I found some nice Jumbo smoked pork sausages in CM Makro the other day, made by the Bangkok Meat Processing Company..... big suckers, they need par-boiling for about 5 mins before grilling..... very tasty but no herbs or spices, just very nice and moist pork bangers!

Can`t beat the Fatboy pork or thick Cumberland sausages from Makro :)

Hi Loop, well it is rumored that Bikie's sausages are really good. Hand made and limited production.
I haven't tasted them yet, will do end this year.

Agree there Loop. Sausages now finished must get to Makro beginning of next week. Oh the bacon in the next compartment is proper bacon too.
