I was going east trying to see how far that road goes after it ends on the map.

Some nice river crossings, around knee deep and full of rocks. I guess in the rainy seasons it gets pretty deep.

Seemed like a trail but soon disappeared.

What looks like a hiking trail continues on the side of the hill, looks like making a U-turn would be a problem, and as the sun was getting down I decided not to check it out and to come back. I think it's quite likely that the trail leads down to the river again, crosses it, and continues on the other side (as evidenced by the view of the other side I got when I got up a hill).

A trail is visible on the hill on the other side of the river. I think the hiking trail crosses the river and continues there.

Going back on a doubletrack around Umphang, I found this big open garbage dump. Pretty ugly but a lot of friendly doggies.

I am glad you found out what was over the other side of the river Gene, I rode that track last year but wasnt going to cross the river as it was too deep at the time.

Yeah, the dead end was just some tractor trail across a farm land.
It's cool that I've been following your last year's steps, Colin :)
Now I'm eager to see where that trail leads... A local guy told me that and some other guys hiked east to Kamphaeng Phet province (forget the name of the village they went to) as some army assignment, I think they started in this direction. However he said it's not possible on motorbike.

Nice shot of the sun shining through the glass and a good way to end a long day with a cold one. Anyway, thanks for posting your trip reports - really like them and also a thanks for posting the GPS tracks. I will make sure that they get in the North Thailand GPS map.
