RideAsia.net now has a new owner.
Ian Gatenby (‘The Bigfella’) is the new owner and forum Administrator, assisted by Brian, Ching Ching and Alex Gatenby.
Bob Kelly will continue his involvement with the forum and we thank him for his drive in maintaining and improving the forum since Auke’s untimely death two years ago. His knowledge of and desire to contribute to the motorcycling community is significant and he has assisted many in the community with his advice.
Ally is retiring from administrative roles but has volunteered to assist in a consulting role and has been incredibly helpful during the transition. Thanks Ally.
Colin (‘Captain Slash’) and Ron (‘2Wheels’) are onboard and will continue being substantive contributors to the motorcycling community in northern Thailand and beyond.
Auke (‘Lone Rider’) was a great friend of many on this forum and the new owners were aware of his ideas and ideals for this forum and his involvement during the early Rider’s Corner days and we will continue it in that vein.
We have been developing some ideas to assist the motorcycling community, including improved route information, updated local conditions, images / videos of points of interest, maps, etc and will bring those to the community in the (hopefully near) future… although the Covid response has thrown some roadblocks in the way. We are looking to work with the advances conferred by smartphones and to meld their usefulness with the very real benefits that a forum brings to our way of life.
Best wishes and safe riding from the new RideAsia.net team.
