ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC
Saturday 10th Sept 9pm.

Almost every day I sit beside an excellent Coffee Truck in Doi Saket (retirement is like that!),
observing the passing parade whilst sipping on an iced Americano.
Its a good chance to meet interesting locals and, sometimes, chat about the bikes they arrive on.
I will add pics here as I get them.
Sometimes I am unable to get adequate details about the bikes so I am hoping subscribers to RA will be able to
add accurate information and/or interesting anecdotes.
Anyway, here goes.

A Thai rider on this little Honda Super Cub 110cc arrived today after riding up from Bangkok.
He tours on it regularly and stores his camping gear (including tent) in the panniers.
The one improvement he has made is to fit YSS shocks.
He love the little thing, which has done 22,000 kms.

No doubt there will be more bikes tomorrow.

Thai rider of this Yamaha XSR155 really enjoys his ride.
A tad expensive perhaps, nudging 100,000 baht.

Not a particularly special bike, albeit a good one, the Thai rider of this Honda ADV150 puts his bike through
a fairly challenging routine.
I asked him what he thought of the bike.
"80/20" was his reply.
The negative 20%, he said, was its relatively high oil consumption.
The bike has done 22,000 kms.

On the super cub does it come with that nice rack over the speedometer

Slightly off track, but I found this 'Coffee RE' beside Nong Bua lakes in Doi Saket.

This little electric 'Sagasonic' scooter called in, probably attracted by the matching Food Truck colour.

This new Aprillia SRGT 200 arrived today.
I hadn't seen one before, so had a chat with the proud owner.
He bought it in Bangkok and had it freighted to CNX.
Apparently its engine capacity is actually 174cc.
He hasn't yet modified the exhaust.

That looks like a very comfotable ride. A mate of mine is in Phuket at the moment. He's been riding a Honda Forza and seems pretty happy with it. His been posting a few vids on YouTube. His channel is called "Away 4K".

It sure does.
I'd be a bit concerned about Aprilia dealer support and parts supply for it here in northern Thailand though.

Saturday 1st Oct 2022 4.20pm

A Thai rider arrived on his near new KTM690.
By now he would be in Buriram to watch the Moto GP races. (Like me, a big Somkiat Chantra fan).

Then his mate arrived on a KTM 390 Duke.

And off they went, hopefully for a safe ride to Buriram.

I can see from these posts that Thailand, like Indonesia, has a very vibrant biking scene.
Riding something unusual is always problematic in Indonesia if you reside outside of Bali or Java. So the Big 4 dominate sales with Honda being top dog followed by Yamaha and Kawasaki with Suzuki in 4th spot.

The Aprilia is nearly as expensive as the Honda Forza 350, I think I would buy the bigger Honda and have peace of mind that the parts were available

Yes they do!
It seems that 17 Triumph models are available here.
Triumph now even has three factories based within a Province of Thailand.

This one is a bit different.
A young chap arrived on this a couple of days ago and it caused a bit of interest amongst the coffee sippers.
He said he made it at home and put a Honda 100cc engine into it.
Sounds wonderful too.
The number plate aroused my interest so I did some checking.
That's the old Siamese numeral system; this one is 01466.
The logo represents the Thai Army (which fits with the rider's casual camouflage clothing and savage haircut).
Ride well young fella.

He called in today and told me the frame is Honda, the front end and rear end are Yamaha.
A hybrid bitza 👍

Yes he has.
He called in today because the other day a couple of us showed interest in his creation.

Today's guest of honour was this young chap on his three year old Yamaha YZF R15.
He likes the little rocket!

Sunday 30th October

Today a young couple arrived on this superb Honda 500X.
I didn't get to ask questions, so am wondering if this is Honda's 'Adventure' model.
(He has the aluminium panniers).

And this Honda ADV750.
Owner doesn't really like it that much, saying that it is actually not good off the bitumen.

Either an outstanding restoration or it has never been ridden..!! Mildly surprised that you would find one in Thailand .... but then, Thailand is the land of ... surprises...!!
