Just got back from Laos this afternoon and the biker god's must have been smiling on me. A ferry ride all to myself and a Thai ferry to boot, not sure what the truck drivers thought as i left Houay Xai, but i was a happy bunny.

Nope, i expected to wait the normal three hours or so then the guy on the scooter just called me up, i asked the ferry guy where he wanted me to park and he just smiled.

One last hurrah of customer service before the damn things disappear into oblivion.

The same thing happened to me some time ago - they miscalculated and it was either my truck (having been there waiting for a few hours) on the ferry or one of the large freight trucks so they opted for the large truck and let me leave on one of the empty Thai ferries.
