plants drying on Lao roads

We had been riding 10days in Laos recently, first time for me except 2 transits to and from China.

Very often I saw people working with plants along the road, seems they dry it there.

Does anybody knows the name of that plant?

They make brooms out of it. They dry it and bash / roll it to remove the seeds.

Broom grass (Thysanolaena maxima): material for making brooms. It grows naturally at the elevation of 400 m above sea level.
