Some riders have been running a rear trials tire (Pirelli MT43) on adventure bikes with great results. Surprisingly, some say they are getting twice the mileage from these rear trials tires as they do from a dual sport rear tire , very interesting

Good idea but what sort of load rating do they have?

I use to use something similar on my MX bike for short circuit (dirt track) racing back in the 70`s.
That was on hard packed and fairly smooth dirt and they worked really well.

Probably an excellent choice for slow chugging up a slick clay hill.

Otherwise, I wouldn't use one of these.

The profile is all wrong for cornering. It's not-rounded and you'll run out of tread the minute you start leaning the bike over.

Also - not sure about this - but I think it's probably a bit taller than a standard tire and may screw with the suspension geometry.

For a novice rider who is struggling with wet-season traction, this could be a good 'cheater' tire but there's a reason you don't see racers from amateur to pro using these.
