The Nikon Inspiration Award winning photographer Ryan Libre is offering a special Ride Asia master class on documentary travel photography.

He will specifically go into photo documenting your travels and opportunities to increase your photographic skills.

We consider offering a 2 day master class in Chiang Mai's Documentary Arts Asia centre.
The costs will be about 1000 baht per person per day, if we can get together 10 participants.

As of now there is no schedule yet, however we plan to do it early 2014.

Please send me a PM with your e-mail address if you are interested and if we have enough interest we will further develop this plan.

Do let me know when you have some dates. If it is being organised for any other group of people, I am happy to attend, it's the numbers that are important.

Look forward to hearing from you.

Ally

Thanks Ally, indeed we roughly need 10 people to keep the costs realistic. So far there are 4 candidates, as soon as I have a couple more I will discuss with Ryan on some dates.

So far we have 5 candidates and we need some more to get this off the ground. Come on guys, there must be some photography lovers amongst you looking to improve skills?
Would your preference be weekdays or during a weekend??

Actually you do not need to be a master to attend to this class, only the teacher is the master :p.
I will attend myself and I am a very mediocre amateur, so all interested in documentary travel photography can attend!

It might be useful to express the scope of the class, so that people don't get the idea it's just for D5 users and outline some of the topics covered.

Marcel, can this event benefit non DSLR people? Someone with a keen eye & interest in getting better images may want to come along. People are not born as specialist photographers & many that enjoy taking photos look at their images thinking 'if only I could have known / done / understood... etc'

Ally

Ally, everybody with an interest in photography can attend, I will check with Ryan if there are any minimal requirements for the camera used.
The scope is to learn making (better) documentary photographs during travelling.

This will not be an artistic photography class, I might organise such master classes later on.

Think we need a specific date to work around marcel.

Will owners of Polaroid instamatics be allowed :-)

Agree Bob, how about the week from the 13th to the 19th of January provisionally?
And please let me know the preference, weekdays or weekends?

If you need I can bring film for your polaroid with me from Holland? www.the-impossible-project.com

On the camera topic Ryan confirms: "any camera is OK, if they can control shutterspeed it can do at least 95% of the topics I teach about."

The master class so far has not enough interested participants.
Unless 4 or 5 possible candidates join in soon we will need to cancel the planned mid-January masterclass.
Alternative we could postpone to a later date, until there are enough candidates.

Thanks Gary, please pop me a PM with your e-mail address so I can keep you updated?

Please be informed I will no longer pursue this photography masterclass, because of personal reasons.
Should you want to pursue an individual or group training with Ryan please feel free to contact him directly at daa@documentary-arts-asia.org

Pong and I am organizing a one day workshop on the digital darkroom. Not sure if we will organize it at my house or at the Art Bridge in Chiang Rai. If it is at my place coffee and other refreshments are on me. Lunch at the prawn farm in Thoeng?? We have 2 seats available!
Anyone interested please PM me.
