The Pakbeng crossing is by a small ferry with a sandy approach to the boat. Could be a scam in operation there as you are required to buy a ticket at the top of the ramp, cost is 30000 kip. When we presented the ticket to the ferry operator it was shown as only 20000 kip and they proceeded to ask for more. But i had a Thai pillion who put them to rest. On either side is the commencement of a high bridge for future area expansion, just up further than Pakbeng is the Hydro Dam under construction.
