I couldn't stand it longer. After four nights in Nan it was time to hit the 1148.
Marginal gas stop lunch with an excellent Amazon coffee
Rolled into Chiang Rai late and ended up at the Wangcome. This Soviet era hotel has the ambiance of a morgue. Up early and out in a hurry. I just ain't a city boy.
I love the way the roads will run the ridge lines.
Near Doi Mae Salong
I get all somber looking around shrines.
This is a fast sweeping turn. A switchback is too sharp to photograph.
This pic is for Richard. Always a power line blocking the view. Doi Mae Salong.
Made it to Thaton and spent the rest of the day riding the roads west along the Burma border. Great place. No tourists.
The Kok River coming out of Burma.
Thaton town.
The Wat at Thaton. Well worth a visit.
View from the Stupa looking south-ish
Looking north-east.
Saw this guy at breakfast. Hell of a cool handy-capable rig.
Road to Chiang Dao Cave.
And I'm back in CNX at Rider's Corner with a cold one. Turned the (used to be) brand new Honda CRF 250L back to Pops Rentals with a bit over 2000 kilometers on the clock. At 650 baht a day it was a steal of a deal.
That's my story and I'm sticking to it.
