With a decent sized, clear rain gap in the satellite imagery, it looked like a good time to check out the newly opened Chiang Rai race track.

Modifications to West's newly acquired Harley V-Rod had just been completed by A.J in Doi Saket, so he was dying to give the 116HP, 325 KG beast a test.

R 1001 to Phrao, the R 1150 eastwards, a nice clear day fr some pictures of the new beast

Taking R 118 NE, the Chiang Rai track, is 3.8km west (before) of the R 118/ R 1 intersection south of Chiang Rai. Look for the petrol station & the left (north) turn for R 1211, the track is a right turn directly opposite R 1211 & the 150 meters along that road on the right.

Finally get all the way up to the top of R 118 & onto the Chiang Rai race track, luckily
Jeravut Keawkean , the tracks owner is there, he seems to have the right attitude and is really excited and committed to his project.

Currently 300 Bht for 1/2 day & 500 Bht for a full day, excellent value. It seems to be attracting anything with 2 wheels which is good, here a Yamaha SR 400 undergoing a customization.

Had a blast around with Jim, Darryl came up on his Sonic & didn't want to ruin the rain tires on his DRZ 400 & kindly took the photo's. He said he seized the Sonic up on the way up there at 120km/h!

Southern end of the track feels good with some corners you can hold some speed through. The straight its a little short, you really are slamming the anchors on at the northern end, especially the first few laps
