FULL Ride Report...coming to you.. !!!.

Sorry for the late report. bt i promise to make it up.. 2 hrs delicated to this awesome site.. so there will be DAILY UPDATES till the story finish... cheers,,

After so many years of inputs and outputs..from PROs.. and those been and done that episode.... finally i went on a trip many riders in singapore yearn for.. 5 NATION. i took 3 years to PLAN and get infos from many season toureres in SGP.. Since i will be going alone... over a period of 1 month... i decided to do a charity for the orphange kids in CAMBODIA..collected $800 frm selling decal which look like the one above...and bought and BROUGHT along with me... 120 packages of STATIONARIEs. each contains.. 2 books.. 4 pencil, 1 pencil case, 1 sharpener, 1 ruler, 1 eraser, 1 ruler packed in a WATER TIGHT zipped-lock bag for each kid. it be easier to buy it in cambodia but what if there is a HUGE "IF" !!!! so i decided to feel the the hardship and drag with me all the way to CAMBODIA... then.. thats where my actual adventure starts...

To begin.. it be a slow n boring pic-story telling... but just bear with me.. its all for a good cause.. and GOOD THINGS MUST SHARE.... : :mrgreen:

AS usual, never fail to snap a pic of THAI border, SADAO CHECKPOINT.

next destination is HATYAI where i planned to stay for 2 nights while i book a train to BANGKOK and do a re-wrapped for my seat for a MUCH AWAITED comfort with CORBIN LOOK-ALIKE!!

Hatyai is a small town and u can find almost everything. some a cheap if u know how to bargain. did a re-wrapped to my seat for 1500bth almost $75 sgp..it takes 3 days to complete as my seat is WET from the rain between SGP to HATYAI 888km ride via North South Highway yesterday...

NEXT book a train to bangkok ASAP. train will leave in 3 days time at 1930hrs in the evening. Be sure to book early as late booking or last min booking might send u off 1st and ur bike will be there maybe 5 hrs later or never at all...

Then all was not sure what to do for the next 72 hrs...so just wonder.. and lofting around town..

and some HE/SHE creature stalked me to my hotel room doorstep..

So i acted like i forgoten the keys at the reception... and went staright back into the shopping mall and decided to go for the THAI TRADITIONAL MASSAGE.. 2 hrs for $8 sgp dollar...
*hint: Get an OLD lady to do the job. they are well worth the experience. younger and pretty girls will just waste ur time...

Nothing much abt the 3 days.. But last day in HATYAI went to collect my "newly seat re-wrapped with steroid"

And i tot why not.. a decal license plate with 5 nation wording in thai on my windscreen.. didnt even bother if they do it correctly on the spelling

A check with this guy if the green decal what it means.. he mention".... 2228... nation..." maybe he wasnt sure too.... so all was pack and ready for the train to book my cargo space for ERIKA ( my bike) not the HE/SHE stalker!!!

SO far so good.. was told NO PROBLEM with cargo loading for ERIKA.. so paid the usual damage...

all is good for loading..

Just as i tought all was good. CARGO train was here... But bike not loaded so are all my luggage and panniers... Reason being.. i have not paid $500bth tips and worse.. THERE WILL BE NO SPACE for ERIKA and she will arive 6-8 hours after me!!! WTF!!!

there was only 1 bike!! and i was 1st in the QUE for the cargo.. and they tell me this!! SO after Much discussion and aruments and GOD did give me strength and a good preach on life and retribution session shared with the workers... they load up my bike w/o any more hassle and kept my $500bth TIPS which i was so againts it!!!!!! but i knew it was abt $500bth and there were just asking for MORE!! so lucky me!!!

When bike is loaded up and secured!! i rush off (Hoping they never asked for more $$$) and board my cabin. DInner was simple and took a good rest

and dont asked me if its comfortable or not!!! i had a hell of a time gg to sleep... because a few people around me snores like pig!!! maybe i did too!!!

Hey... Phil. trust me.. it felt way much better than just riding. did realise it till im almost home!!! all went great. been such a blessing trip throughout!! nway.. the story go on...

Arrive BANGKOK and rush to check on my ride.. aaahhhhhwwwwww there she is. SAFE and sound!!

Show the proper receipt and she is grounded.. by 6 men in all..

all in all.. tipping only cost me $200bth... nice porters and that is how it should have been...

Panniers and stuff all loaded and got to know.. i have to PUSH my bike all the way out!!! PUSH ALL THE WAY OUT!!!!! yes.. JUST AFTER I LOAD EVERYTHING!!!! damn!

After this... stupid me.. i realise i did not switch off my CAMERA so run out of batt. no pictures!!!!
WIll skip bangkok and head to next destination is KABIN BURI, 130km away from arayanphathet / poipet!!!

Mid way after 2 hours... i didnt even realise i was out of bangkok and just got to know when i saw AYYUTAYA signboard. decided to take a break before reviewing my direction! bad at map reading thou.. sucks... At KFC.. the staff willingly to charge my CAMERA BATT..

As Usual.. FINGER LICKING GOOD

Since its my 1st time riding UP NORTH further than hatyai (did it twice only) i was really sure that i dont understand how the HIGHWAY NO and SIGN works.. all i know was GPS co-ordination and a compass North South East West.. Wasnt really lost but i know i am heading to the right direction!! On the way to route 33, saw this awesome gigantic statue. really admire the craftmanship!!

Took a longer break and my focus drift apart. became too lazy to read the map and yes... the nightmare is about to begin... i took a wrong turn!!! highlight "RURAL ROAD" on ur gps unless u want dirt and flies and big insect flying onto ur helmet!!!

it was too dark that im just glad i had the HELLA 505 HID converted installed and moded!. Africa twin lights sucks. cant blame it as its alrady 10 years old!! finally... took me about 6 hours to reach Mr SHine Mansion. A friend recomend me his place as its more sensible to stop for a night or two as its nearer to cambodia..

he waited for my arrival n starve himself for dinner with me.. poor him n family! quick unload, shower and off for a welcome meal. Tnx SHine...

Room was HUGE! Aircon.. Bed. Cupboard.. WOW..

Waste no time... and there we are.. SHINE took me to a nice place for dinner.. BIG POND. relax and very laidback... cool place. and how to know..if food was great too? You didn't realise u finished it so soon!!!

I was suppose to stay for just 1 night but SHine was asking me to stay another night and he promise to bring me to places in his HOMETOWN.. i didn't regreat it...Perfect run for CAMBODIA and LAOS and MHS pre-warm up ride that is...

first thing first.. NEVER RIDE w/o BREAKFAST!!!

20 min is all it takes...pphheewww.....

1st stop.....they offer camping and teambuilding and self confidence camp. very popular among schools and big companies.. and they have rooms with AWESOME VIEWS facing mountains and mountains.....

Huge Transparent Glassdoor.. see through inside out.. outside in!!! kinky!!

Owner got 2 grown up son to run the bussiness so they swap from HARDCORE ride to more classicride!! slow and safe and damn EXPENSIVE!!! all fully restore to OEM parts!!!

Hi Phill, sorry late reply... was sick yet busy with work over the weekend. nway, Yup.. Not recomended to go by train if ur alone unless u know what to do and how to do it. was lucky i did my homework so i see it coming!! But again. was being BLESSED i guess.. hehehehe

Leave ur bike here (LOCKED) and enter the building on ur left. the smal office (under the UMbrealla ahead), will ask for ur Vehical Ownership Documentaiton Once after you chop ur passport. If all is clear... proceed. I was lucky... no payment or $$ asked!!! maybe i looked like thai :

After this road... Once i passed over the BIG GRANTRY OVERHEAD.. its LEFT HAND DRIVE... remember LEFT HAND DRIVE!!!!

FOr those who need VISAS... proceed into this building (Its on the right of my bike in pic above). and LOCKED ur bike pls...

MAIN CUSTOM IMMINGRATION IS AHEAD ON THE RIGHT about 1 min walk/ride away

Then ride forward (REMEMBER ITS LEFT HAND DRIVE* SO YOU HAVE TO RIDE ON THE RIGHT*
Here You fill up ur international White card youself.

For bike import.. u need to ride about 30-50metert. *U'll see the building white & Orange (just above the yellow umbrealla) CAUTION of oncoming cars/bull cart/ motobike/ buses and many more... as traffic rules changes drastically. ride slowly and use as much HORN if u need to.

Name of the Building which u will not be able to miss it...

The BIG SHOT GUY ABOVE who give me a stern look, a question and answer session. show him my documentation and goodwill of charity.. he grant me the import vehicle declaration documents and keep my photocopy set of my THAI INSURANCE,SGP INSURANCE, VEHICLE OWNERSHIP m and Thai import papers.always make copies of ur documentation and KEEP THE ORIGINAL!!! or they might scribble on it!!!

when i got out.. iwas glad that i park my BIKE in the compound. and becareful of pickpoket as well!!! The guy in green strip shirt just lost his wallet and passport after this shot!

WHen all is good. Check ALL DOCUMENT .. CHeck all belonging intact.. MOVE OFF...In Poipet.. /Cambodia.. you can never get lost!! All signs is in English and Khemer as well..

Hi Phil, Yup i did so. A Proper passport clearance and a proper bike import into and export out of cambodia. Travelling alone is not that really fun when they have this weird smile ( YOU WILL KNOW IT) and the $$ look on the officers face .

I Enter CAMBODIA NO PROBLEM.. but almost get into TROUBLE when exit for LAOS.. They just mention "WHITE PAPER MUST HAVE. IF NO, YOU MUST PAY".. but seriously.. there wasnt any other paper that i was given!!!! not till i show him picture of the officer who clear my import / export!!! Think that half bald officer is really a military :ugeek: superstar!!!! even Entering LAOS at the immigration checkpoint, i was asked for $5usd after they make me wait for 20min and my passort was on the table all the while when the officer just look at me and decided to go for a SMOKE BREAK :twisted: :twisted: :twisted: ( because i didnt slip in some USD$ in my passport :mrgreen: )... when i demand a reason why it takes so long.. we argued and i decided to just pay $1USD (The usual amount)!!!!

But it all depend on luck i guess...i enter from POIPET and exit via Strung STreng... as this is where the CHARITY took place.. thats why i did an anti-clockwise route. Others always did a clockwise, SGP, Malaysia, Thail, into LAOS and down to Cambodia. but still.. does it really matter? :mrgreen:

Hotel was RSVP via contacts at ANGKOR CHRISTINE hotel @ $12USD per night.. too posh but they said i deserve it :mrgreen: ... Thought of staying 2 days but was told n advise to stay 3- 4 days as ANGKOR WAT will definately take 1 day. and to visit the Orphanage schools will take 2 days in all..

SHower and have dinner at PUB street as recomended by Mr SHine ... was too tired n sleepy also need an early night as TMRW is a whole day event..visiting the 2 Orphanage schools..

TREAT MYSELF A GOOD DEAL before all the HARD WORK.

Its not only a school but it is also WHERE the kids sleeps, eat, study and importantly, surounded by LOVE from one another..Run by a local guy who speaks little ENGLISH but SPEAKS FLUENT JAPS. He was once an ORPHANAGE. so he felt its time to give back what others had done for him. at least... THERE is a sense of BELONGING for the kids.. He owns this compound and manage the daily / monthly running cost from various tourist guide job he had bringing JAPANESE tourist on tour around SEAM REAP. At night.. He Teach JAPANESE LANGUAGE at a local school. ANd of-course..never ending DONATION chips in from tourist and people who known and visited his school. Some of the kids who seems ready for public school are send out to proper school. as FInacnial is an issuie, those who lag behind will stay in the compund itslef till they are better in academic. By doing this, the money is well spend and the result is worthwhile.

Its a brand new place but Construction is still on going here and there. ALL by the help of village people and some by the kids themself in which ever and whatever they can do. to engage contrators seems too EX!

They really NEED a new WATER FILTRATION SYSTEM as there is NON!! And guys.. you should taste the water that they drink!

A School Project by the KIDS. Grow whatever they can.. FARMING!!!

Their WHITEBOARD within the study classroom and posters to create a porper atmosophere..

On the right is the man who is EVERYTHING for these kids here.. He is their bestfriend.. their boss.. their director.. their mentor.. father.. uncle.. brother.. and withn the kids themselve.. they are the only brothers and sisters they had.. and ever know since they were toddler

Day 1, the first visit is crucial. You need to break the ice. And bond with the kids or they seems LOST!! and PUZZLED! i just teach them how to show magic and make a skipping rope out of rubber band. and that works fine.

Excellent report, it's good that you incorporated charity into your ride, something I'm hoping to do in the upcoming ride as well.

I suffered similar experience as well when I crossed alone from Laos ito Thailand at Houay Xai/Chiang Khong. The customs in Laos demanded 500baht before he lets me go. I didnt want to make a fuss so I just paid. Of course secretly I hope he chokes on his dinner...haha.

Next Orphange school is in the VILLAGE of SALA TEASA VILLAGE

HEre.. i am suprise that they receive no aid or whatsoever to run the school. They practically build everything by themself within their mean.

They only had 2 classroom. and manned by 3 personal. 1-guy ( who works as an artise and spare most of his income to pay the 2 teachers but they just make do with what they can. 2- ladies to teach the kids at each classroom. To the 2 lady teachers.. its at least better to have an income rather than none. So they teach whatever they know. they themselve live in the village so they dont have to travel far to look for work which is very competetive.

Classroom 1- For grade 3-4.

Classroom 2 - for grade 1-2

They use PEN to write instead of pencil at a very young age..

They didnt have uniform so they try to use whatever they can get as long as they are white top n blue bottom.

The girl with the jacket is not feeling well. But thay cannot send her to the hospital as currently, there is another student at the hospital.Also, they can only afford to send 1 kid at a time due to cash strap and not much bed in the hospital to cater for them.

Navigating in SEAM REAP is not so difficult once u know the main road.

Still early so the stalls and shops are not busy yet.

Found a nice cosy place to SKYPE and emails and suchs..

WAS just browsing till i got a call form local line. Another CONTACT called me to lend his hands in exploring CAMBODIA, SEAM REAP. HIS NAME IS 'HYIT' nice guy..

BRILLIANT companion. friends from PP came to SEAM REAP to do a charity run n cycling over a 2 day campaign. the couple seated left and right of me, actually WALK from POIPET custom to seam reap. Took them 22 hours.. and yes. they quarrel of over the idea of walk-a-'torn'.. even thou they agree to do it in the first place...

its just a impromptu phil.. i'd planned the trip 3 years before and sitting waiting for the date to set off. Till.. 6 months before i set-off... it just come to me... "BANG" i wana do this charity thing.. so eerrr where do i start.. and yes.. the load of 90kg behind my back was no BIG JOKE. but for every sweat i drop.. FOr every strenght i used... For every charity act that was done in this trip... till now i cant believe it and i still cant realise, how i was able to do it w/o no bike breakdown... keep meeting nice people who never fail to bring me to places i wana go... no PROBLEM at all even with the scumbag who try to extort $ wasnt spared either... i am sure i am BLESS by being BLESSED by those people i met along the way...came back with a different perspective of live...

You should do it. LAOS have many great villages to go. and i bet you know LAOS bit too much as well. heard the KIDS likes toys and suchs coz school was not even available except forthose who can afford.

LAstly bro... Sad to inform you that all my FUTURE charity trip will be put on hold. I was too excited that i overlook the time frame to save and to launch another charity items for sale. Takes lotsa time and effort but again, i was the only one doing it alone. 50% of the time goes to my work, 30% goes to my beauty sleep, left 20% to split for eat, sleep, shit, shower and again.. work. damn.. life is abit cruel nowadays after the GENERAL ELECTION.... phewww...

At Special request from the BOSS to her employee to keep a CLOSE LOOKOUT on ERIKA..SAFE and SOUND and still there...

YESTERDAY went as planned and like a breeze. The ORPHANAGE visiting went smoothly.. the kids knew me then. BUT TODAY, is the day when i will visit them ON MY OWN w/O a guide/ contact to lead me there...To distribute the charity packages to them...
SO ERIKA got packed and ready to go...

The road to SALA TESA VILLAGE.. soft sand and POT HOLE everywhere...

Things u didnt get to cook nowadays.. "A SLOW COOK" to be precise..

THe GPS cant do much when ur in a remote area with only GREEN background on ur screen and a checked flag pointed out the location ur gg to!!! BUT there is practically no INFO of route on how to go there unless someone does it and plot it in the map before.. so.. I AM DEAD MEAT!!!
was lost and came to this house to asked for direction but only to be greated with loud SHOUTS and he chased me away. Not enought.. he summon his BLACK DOG to shoo me the way out as well...i bet for sure he is bredding CHICKEN and preparing them for fights. The way he kept them in captivity shows a lot!!!

ANd finnally... After 2 hours different from yesterday GUIDED route to SALA TESA VILLAGE, i reached!!

the only 2 sponsorship a small deed from a close friend for the charity campaign.. "INKED" and "MELLOW THE TIE AND PRINT"...

The goods... from miles and miles away... a place called SINGAPORE..

The feeling of distributing the item to the KIDS was a pleasure... the Look on each of those kids...the smile... the anxiety... the Eagerness... the excitement... was all over their expression.

I personally Hand it over.. while the teachers, became an instant camera woman... SO thats explains why some pix are not that really good. But guess what..even the best camera/video with The BEST lens.. cant compete with those capture inside my memories... sweet..

Each Pencil case comes with 4xPENCIL, 1xCharpener, 1x Ruler and 1x Erase

And also comes with 2 x 100pages of JOTTER single line books.
Each Package was pack in a ZIP LOCK bag. so those who dont have a bag, can use it as its waterproof and no problem on rainy days gg to school no more.

The little ones wasnt left out..

ANd so are the teachers... ( This is the guy in-charge of the school)

i remember i was suppose to go to CPCSO for the item giving just before LUNCH TIME. till i got lost

and ended up here in angkor wat.. Only local bike/transport are allowed. And also, that particular day, there was a marathon/cycling event for charity as well so LESS vehicle are allowed in as u need a entry label/pass. HOW I KNOW? i managed to break into and was chased away by the local police...... hehehe

Somehow i didnt realise time fly and only realise, its almost mid-day. Tried to call my local contact to inform CPPSO guys that i be late but HP want ringing at all. SO i was lost of plan... BUT instead..I got a call form MR HYIT to come over for LUNCH. The night before, i did mention to him i wanted to try CAMBODIAN HOME COOK FOOD. He asked me if i eat PORK or any other meat? i said i prefer FISH ( TRYING TO BE SAFE HERE) and he just smile. Now i know why that smile.. he asked his wife to cook for me... as he took time off work to company me.

Meet him somwhere im familiar at.. we ride to his home about 20km away on decent road. 35% off road into the village.
had a movable VERANDA...

HIS wife... and no time spared. Food spread over the table...The only person that speaks english is Hyit n his brother... the one in army pants..

Had a long enjoyable chat with his family till i almost forgoten i still got 1 JOB left to do. Hyit was geting lazy and he decided to tagg with me..

WHen i reach CPCSO, i knew it i had missed some of the kids as they most had school and some attend language lesson. so here is whats left... the young ones...

they speaks little english and japanese...and aked what they want to do when they grow up.. one wanted to be a TOUR GUIDE so thats why he learn JAPANESE.. and the other wanted to be a teacher...not bad..

Nothing much can i do and i dont wana waste my and their time, i spoke toone of the ELDER kids on duty ( he used to be an ORPHANAGE HERE and now he is giving back to the school where ONCE he call HOME. a LOCAL GRADUATE.

OK.. plan back to normal.. after that.. the PLAN WAS TO HAVE A PLAN. i asked HYIT whre can i see the water village? He left his bike and ride with me..and he came with this briilliant idea..to see a TEMPLE which is left UNTOUCH and not many tourist know abt it.. there, u can see the SUN SET as well on top of a hill...

i was just riding further in and further in near the WATER VILLAGE AREA and i found a small village so poor that i hang my CAMERA and snap pic of it. MOST of course turn out disasterous.. But mange a few.

There i had to make a turn-Up-Slope. time is running out and Hyit tell me to rush as the sun if falling..
SO no pix. But i somehow was left behind as i was too afraid that it gets too dark and cant take any shot of the temple on the hill.. SOme of the these cubicle are still in used by the MONK for prayers. and the MAIN 3 cubicle are uder restoration.

THEN... in a nick of time...

The view over the hll is where the WATER VILLAGE IS.. the people live on boat itself. SO they fish for life. with thei family in it.. 24/7 x 365 days.... IMAGINE THAT!!!!!

NOW back to the temple... i did a reset on my ISO setting. didnt bring a wide angle neither an external FLASH due to space constraint on my bike.. so here are afew of the best shots.... to me at least... hehe :

On the way down.. it gets DARK pretty fast and yes.. IT WAS FREAKY DARK as the MONK started chanting and stuff..

On the way down the hill, i set to NEUTRAL gear and cruse.. the wind getting colder and i decided to stop to enjoy the village comes into light... but manage only 1 SHOT of it...THE WATER VILLAGE

SINCE i had luxury meal the night before... and i started to miss home food.. to make myself feel better... i visit Mr Kentucky..

the owner i guess.. Look same same but different different..who also owns a HONDA XRA 750 back home..

Met a malay speaking chap. Manager of a hotel nearby having dinner wif famly. NIce chap.. invited me over to stay another night at his HOTEL FOC after he knew i was on a mission with no SPONSORSHIP at all. promise him i will stop by before i set off for PP in 2 days time.

ANd of course.. i avoid PUB STREET and finish the NIGHT MARKET.. LOOK LOOK..SEE..SEE.

and again... Giving $ as a form of donation is simply not my kind. at least, this trip i sell stickers/decal to raise it. and some saving for my expenses JUST FOR MY OWN so the $ all go into the CHAIRTY. BUT these little siblings... i just had to gave in...

Decided to retire for the night... TOmorow.. angkor wat.. nextday after...Phnom Penh..
so here is the local way of FILLING UP UR PIG with a BLACK LABEL whiskey..Just had 1 bottle of it as tomroow wont be riding that much. After all.. there is a proper local GAS station that im much more confortable with. BUt at this hour.. there are close.
