Running a police checkpoint? Do not do that in Chonburi any more ....

Just read in the BKK Post that the police shot & killed a Thai motorbike rider. At first police claimed he just died because he crashed after running a check-point but second autopsy (yes the first one did not see a bullet entrance or exit wound) confirmed he died of a gun shot in his head (good marks-man that police guy). Then the police man said he fired a warning shot in the air and the the bullet must have accidentally hit him. But autopsy confirms that it has been a horizontal shot. The police man has been arrested for murder. Of course he denies.

There seems to be a big outcry in the Thai motorbike society and a demand of revenge. The accident happened on 14 March.

Yes, this has been big on the Thai social media I follow since last week. There's been some gruesome photos of the victim with gun shot wounds posted too. A lot of support from bikers visiting the site, appearing to be supported by locals.

This is happening in the context of increased police checkpoints in BKK, particularly on bridges where bikes have illegally ridden for years unchallenged. The BKK Thai biker community feels under attack from police right now and this unfortunate incident seems to have added fuel to the fire.

I read a post of FB yesterday which showed a photo of the officer involved and claims he is a known 'Mafia Police Officer' and drunk. The debate was why/how the BIB continues to protect these types in the force.
