ROYAL ENFIELD CLASSIC
2ND MAY 2024

Almost every day I sit beside an excellent Coffee Truck in Doi Saket (retirement is like that!),
observing the passing parade whilst sipping on an iced Americano.
It's a good chance to meet interesting locals and, sometimes, chat about the bikes they arrive on.
I will add pics here as I get them.
Sometimes I am unable to get adequate details about the bikes so I am hoping subscribers to RA will be able to
add accurate information and/or interesting anecdotes.
Anyway, here goes.

A rider on this Yamaha R15 arrived, saying he enjoys touring quickly on his bike!

Sorry to be nitpicking - but the Royal Enfield Meteor is a 350, isnt it?

Love your thread anyhow…😊

Where is this coffee truck located? I live in Doi Saket also.

Hi Franki.

Here is said coffee truck and alongside it is a delightful kebab stand.
Next to the sports stadium on the road where the Tuesday market is held.
We are there most days from around 11am; just a group of 3-4 riders who like to chat (mostly about bikes)
over a nice coffee.
Our bikes are parked opposite the coffee truck alongside the grandstand.
You are welcome to join us.

I have no vested interest in the yellow coffee truck nor the kebab stand.
I merely indulge in what they sell!
As you are a local you probably know that the road is used solely for the day market every Tuesday.

I will be there Monday; hope to meet you.

Thanks for the info and coordinates. It's only within ten minutes from my house. I'll definitely stop by in the near future and do some tire kickings.

Thanks for the info. I am back in HK and shall return next week. Will go to have coffee and hopefully meet you for a chat soon.

A Thai rider arrived on his little Honda CT125, which was one year old with only some 3,000 kms on the clock.
He loves it!
His helmet is inside the top box.

This little Yamaha R15 (featured on 2nd May) was back again, this time showing its extensive new bar work.

I like those tyres on the cb500x, cannot make out what they are, you didn’t happen to notice did you?

No, but he will return and I will check.
Note the Pirelli sticker on his top box though.

No interesting bikes have arrived for far too long but this pair of Honda Monkeys appeared today.
The Thai riders do actually tour on the bikes.
Modified exhausts/mufflers have made them sound pleasantly angry.
Expensive little thinks though at nearly 100,000 baht.

Incidentally Capss, I haven't forgotten to check that tyre for you but he hasn't reappeared yet.

28th July 2024

These big boys arrived yesterday.

And especially for 'Capss' I got some info re that chunky rear tyre.

0-6.jpg

The Thai owner told me he doesn't know the brand name but he bought it second hand for (somehow) only 1000 baht!
I got down on hands and knees and found this brand name.

0-4.jpg

Then later I checked 'Motoz.com.au' and found a vast selection of tyres to suit a wide variety of bikes.
I hope that info is useful 'Capss'.

Hi there, it has been a while and I didn't make it to the coffee truck. But I have not forgotten. I'll make an effort after first week of August. Hope to meet some of the Doi Saket riders soon.

19th August.

We had a weekend Sports Carnival at the Doi Saket Stadium and some interesting bikes rolled up for coffee and food.

Frankie and Sylvia were new visitors on this immaculate Versys.

And a Thai couple arrived on this little Honda Dax 125cc.
They were on a 'coffee crawl' around the area.

The rider of this old Forza 300 has constructed a penthouse for his very obedient and well travelled terrier.

And this Triumph T100 made another appearance.

This very loud Honda Rebel 300 screams past every day and today the owner stopped for a coffee.

Neat pair of side panniers.

And a pair of 1963 Vespas putted in.

One of the nicer things of being able to relax beside the coffee truck is meeting new riders and starting friendships.
A Dutch new friend arrived on his very nice Honda CB650R.

My RE Classic was joined by a nicely modified Honda Rebel 500 and the RE Meteor 650.
But the Meteor seemed a bit fatter today.

Yes, owner had fitted a pair of RE panniers to it (expensive too!)

I thought this was a newish Yamaha X-Max but it is a very tidy five year old.

My coffee sipping friend is very happy with his GPX Legend 250.

18th October 2024

A young lady arrived on this sporty sounding Yamaha R15.

I thought my RE 650 friend had branched out into food delivery but for 300 baht this suffices as a 'top box'.

This Honda Phantom is showing only 35,000 kms on the clock.

A young lad appeared on his Honda CB150R.

Then, by contrast, a new Swiss friend (Charlie) arrived on his impressive BMW1200 GS.
Incidentally, Charlie has an immaculate Triumph Tiger XCX 800 for sale which I will put into 'Classifieds" section.
