Don't know if any of you are aware.... there's a new MX park just opened opposite my moo baan (and right bloody noisy buggers they are too! ).... about 12km north of Chiang Mai on the 1001 Phrao road, on the right hand side..... if you go past the big orange AMF building you've gone too far...... just a few landscaped lumps of dirt fenced with Hazard tape at the mo but there's been activity all week and this evening someone was bawling out on loudspeakers about a competition on tomorrow....... more I cannot tell you but if I don't go on the Phrao/Wiang Pa Pao loop ride with the Cap'n in the morning I might take a wander over and snap some pics for y'all...... might be fun for some of you dirt lovers to have a bump 'n' grind venue on yer doorstep!

Well it all looks like great fun, and a bloody good turn-out for a first time event..... maybe only a baby track to some of you more experienced high flyers but for most, a good fun "bump 'n' grind" circuit.... make your own mind up!

As I said, it's about 12 km up the 1001 Maejo road from Chiang Mai on the right hand side going north..... take the 1st U turn after the Susco gas station (that's on your left) and if you see the orange AMF building, you've gone too far! Enjoy!

Saw it earlier in the week...huge crowd there today for the races.

Great addition to the local scene.

Thanks for posting this Martin, I think we saw all the cars there this morning as we headed north on R 1001

It is just a temporary track for the cyclecross race, as it always is. Now the race is passed they probably destroy it.

Kind of wondered the same.. they did one over in canal rd out by nahm phrea last year..

ะThey build those tracks for a special event, but probably because of their location are not permanent. Also they are "cyclecross" tracks, which means very small with small jumps mostly designed for the supercup bikes. Gets boring quickly on full size bikes.
They had one in Mae Rim a few weeks ago, just at the exit of the "soi 1" Mae Nai trail. It's all gone now.

Bloody 'ope so, noisy bastards! (Not the bikes.... the muppet on the mic for over 8 hours yesterday!)

Serves you right for not coming out with us Martin

Yes, very true!
However I've had my worst year EVER on two wheels and feeling a bit delicate/bruised/confidence has taken a big bash and when I saw your route I thought "that's not exactly a nice little meander!"
Maybe see ya around the next few days, if not I'll be back mid December and looking to do a few rides out.
