Relatively short rides but very scenic, since the weather these days (May)is similar to Thailand ,there is a pattern of sunny mornings and rain in the afternoon,so we had to plan to be at destination by 2/3pm.Rented a few bikes along the way.In the First part of the trip a classic Royal Enfield "bullet" , which was ok ,but a bit slow with 2ppl+2backpacks..(slow even without backpacks) but not bad since the roads aren't in very good conditions. You will feel a lot like Che Guevara every time you start one of these things.Average road conditions are: bumpy asphalt with random patches of soil/potholes/stones ..u get the idea..Trucks and buses will be very careless and drive fast on windy/narrow roads.U better get out of their way if u can!Accidents do happen..Here some pics i took on the way to the Tibet border/Araniko Hwy ,the road to Jiri , Daman and back to Kathmandu.
then we moved to Pokhara for other rides in that area. There is guesthouses and homestay in many towns, basic ,cheap ,equivalent to 200-500Bht.

At some point we left the bike and took a hike into the Annapurna Sanctuary (Trail).Up to to around 4200M altitude.A place where you are surrounded by glaciers 360*, with Annapurna 1 the tenth highest mountain in the world at 8091M.
it was a 90km hike in about 9days+1 day rest! GPSd with OSMAND! yes 90km on foot.it was exhausting sometime losing 800-1000M altitude
then having to go back up,but the stunning scenery is what keeps u going. Here some pics.

Thanks Forest / Rider for the beautiful pictures. Been to Kathmandu and Pokhara several times but every time it was for work so I did not have much time to go out and enjoy the countryside but your pictures bring back many fond memories.

oh! but let me add..fundamental..gasoline in Nepal can be limited ,but we only had problems once on the way Pokhara/Lumbini, couldn-t feel up the tank full.anyway is also sold -black- market for a little extra charge.About any bike rental shop has a stash too!

Forest Rider, thanks for posting these great photos and taking us along with you.

Ally
