Phil was going back to Chiang Mai and we explored some new dirt tracks for both of us, the first one linked the 2032 to the 3033

This was a bit deeper than it looked and it was wet feet time for me
DSCF0516.jpg

But it was a bright hot sunny day and I soon dried out

DSCF0518.jpg

This is a fun track

On the 3033 and a bit of towing taking place

DSCF0521.jpg

Some of the 3033s lovely curves
DSCF0522.jpg

Then another dirt track that will eventually take us to the 4002

DSCF0524.jpg

We were certainly chucking up some dust today

DSCF0529.jpg

The track gets steeper with more difficult terrain then goes through the woods and under these bamboos
DSCF0530.jpg

DSCF0531.jpg

Then its out into the sunshine and what a lovely view

DSCF0540.jpg

As is so often the case it turns to narrow single track

DSCF0544.jpg

Its a narrow steep descent through the corn
DSCF0545.jpg

Eventually we arrive in a village and we have looped around in a circle and back onto the track but heading north now not south
DSCF0546.jpg

DSCF0547.jpg

We saw these along here earlier, from here we ride to the 4002 then back on the 1091 where we both enjoy a fun ride until at the junction with the 1120, here I turn left and Phil goes right back to Chiang Mai

A turn off the 1120

DSCF0550.jpg

Nice views but the road goes nowhere
DSCF0551.jpg

Now to enjoy the 1120 and try to find the other end of the 4020
DSCF0552.jpg

When I was riding the 4020 the other day and I found it getting steep and difficult terrain riding the last bit towards the 1120 there was a very good reason for this, this slight obstacle in the above photo
DSCF0553.jpg

I find the start of the 4020 and its a narrow concrete road where possibly a funeral had just taken place
DSCF0554.jpg

I am told to ride through then stopped and given some sweets and water, kind of them
DSCF0555.jpg

Off on the 4020 and not too difficult to start with
DSCF0556.jpg

DSCF0557.jpg

DSCF0558.jpg

Its now a loose rocky section and I leave the bike to walk up a bit, its gets better so I ride the bike up further
DSCF0559.jpg

After riding up steep loose dirt then getting the bike bogged down in a hole and having to drag it out sideways then run alongside it to get it up the hill I decide to park it here and walk the remainder of the way, one reason is its now narrow single track.
DSCF0560.jpg

Its a hot sweaty climb but at least I wont get stuck
DSCF0561.jpg

It widens out at the top and I could have rode the bike up
DSCF0562.jpg

I reach the spot where I left the bike and yes I could have rode the last bit no problem but I didnt know that twenty minutes ago and I had no desire to ride up and down those steep loose rocky hills again
DSCF0436.jpg

The photo from the same spot two days ago with the bike stuck
DSCF0564.jpg

I set a waypoint where I left the bike and I am 322 metres away but as I have walked in anything but a straight line I must have walked over 500 metres.
Well I have now completed the loop of the 4020 and have the GPS track to prove it but 500 metres of it was on foot, it is a doable loop but my personal opinion is try it on a motard or a DP bike
DSCF0565.jpg

Now the relatively easy dirt ride back
DSCF0566.jpg

DSCF0567.jpg

I am totally knackered now, I reckon that 1km walk is the culprit and its a leisurely ride back to Nan
