The route 1080, Unknown
Total distance 110 km
I headed north on the 1080 for about 20 km then took a left onto an unnumbered road to Ban Santiphap to try to link up some roads across the mountains
A twisty number is this road
This bridge to the side of the main road has collapsed into the water and been made up with hard packed stones and I guess it will be okay until the next wet season
Quite a few landslips along here
Theres about four in this short section and I guess the road was closed for a bit
I reach Ban Santiphap
Lunch time
I head south out of the village on this dirt track which starts at N18.59.461 E100.39.343 hoping to link up with one due south of here
Not a good omen, these were all along the road I turned back on a couple of days ago
Its a good pleasant start
Not far and it turns to this single track
I ride for 1.6 km from the village then turn around at N18.58.729 E100.39.232
The views on the way back
Back in the village and some washing being done in the stream
At the north end of the village this dirt track starts at N18.59.694 E100.39.267
Just out of the village and these couple of shacks
Another nice pleasant start
I cross a few water crossing but here it appears I have to ride along the stream
I decide to walk through and check it out first
Its an easy shallow crossing
I am enjoying this and at a fork I take the left heading west and on due course for the waypoint I left two days ago out in the corn field
Typical its now single track and more water crossings, 4.4km from the start and I turn around at N19.00.614 E100.37.906
Now to enjoy the water crossings on the way back
Now why cant all single track be like this, plenty of room to manoeuvre in
I reach the fork taking the left to see where this goes
About 700 metres at N19.00.824 E100.38.346 then it turns to single track and goes up through those corn fields
Its narrower than it looks in the photo and I still have memories of riding uphill through this from two days ago
Here they come down again laden with the sacks of corn
That guy was carrying three sacks and making it look easy. I looked on google earth last night and it looked like none of todays tracks were going to work out how I hoped so no real big disappointment
Time to ride back to Ban Santiphap
I stop in the village for a snack and refreshments
This youngster was a right little entrepreneur, as soon as I took the rubber bands off the small packets of peanuts she quickly took them from me, either for games or possibly they have a monetary value
Back on this lovely twisty road
I take a dirt track to my left to see where it goes
I ride through the woods for 5.4 km then this fallen tree is in the way but not really a problem
This landslip is more of a problem and I dont fancy riding over it
Plus this fallen tree with stones to go over it is a bit too close to a drop for my liking so as its a bit hazardous plus theres no help out here if things go wrong I turn back at N19.01.070 E100.41.431
Nearly back to the asphalt and great scenery again
The twisty asphalt that awaits me, and now back to Nan after a fun days exploring
Half a roast chicken with a double portion of saute potatoes and onions at Tonys Place for 190 Baht
