The Route 1168, 1243
Total Distance 160 km
A quick trip to see how the Nam Wa Hydropower project was progressing, heres some shots from along the 1243
No fires today, all the burnings been done
Photos dont usually show the gradient but this one tells you its a steep hill the tractor is trying to climb
They were driving to the top then ploughing on the way down but this one just couldnt make it up again
Now at the Wa and the earth dam which wasnt even started when I was here two months ago is now well and truly underway
I ride down through the works for my final look
On my next visit the bike would be under water if still parked there
I was thinking about another 8 metres height of water at capacity so not a lot of area will be put under water.
As the Wa always flows a massive high water level isnt really necessary for this project
I have had my final look around what will all be submerged now time to ride back
Before reaching Mae Charim I take a right onto a dirt track at N18 38.293 E100 58.168 which will take me to the Wa river at Ban Nam Pu
I first rode this a year ago on the Phantom, it was a more enjoyable ride today on the KLX
The rickety old bridge that I wont take my bikes across
Now to ride back to the 1243 and home
A pleasant days ride now to get back to Nan for a massage
The place I used before in Kad Nan didnt appear to have anyone there apart from a man who could give a massage, I explained its a service I only receive from females
Luckily I had the mobile number of Gun the masseuse who worked there before and she was only too happy to ride over to show me her new place of employment which is at N18 46.971 E100 46.735
250 Baht got me a pleasant two hour massage
Its not only Thais who carry dogs around on bikes, notice the two headlights on the basket, apparently they are really bright which is a useful addition to a Wave
I had two portions of this lasagna, onions and garlic bread at Tonys Place for 230 Baht
