The route 1080, 1336, 4015, 2023, 1081, 1169
Total distance 143 km
Heading north on the 1080 I take a left onto the 1336 to Tha Wang Pha but avoiding lots of the holiday traffic
I ride alongside the Nan river and realise how much higher and wider it must get in the rainy season
Further on I see a suspension bridge and spot a motorbike riding across
I will wait for the traffic to clear then I will cross
It was a stable enough crossing, I ride it both ways then ride on along the 1336
I do a u turn at Tha Wang Pha, fill up with fuel then take a left onto the 4015 to try out this new road for me and to locate some reservoirs that I have spotted on the GPS
Its a pleasant well surfaced road
I come to a T junction, to the right goes the 4015, I take the left which is now unnumbered and after a short ride the road turns to dirt at a fork at N19.07.884 E100.52.214.
Both forks turn to dirt so its dirt whichever way I choose
I take the left fork and ride to the Huai Wai reservoir
I guess this is the overflow and the net is to stop the fish escaping, tractors have driven through here but its soft mud and I have no desire to get stuck
This sorry looking dog walks by and looks like its ear has been bitten off
There are fish in here, hopefully some live ones too
I ride on past the reservoir and take a left to ride to the back of it
The end of the road
I climb up into the shack and can see the reservoir from here
Now to ride back to the fork and take the other one
Lovely scenery shots from along here
Now on the other fork to visit two more reservoirs
Plenty of bamboo growing in here
That looks like asphalt in the distance
At N19.09.125 E100.52.781 the asphalt starts and its a very good newish surface
The Huai Pla Kang reservoir
I ride the KLX down into and park in the overflow
Its virtually at full capacity
Now to enjoy this lovely unnumbered road that the Esri only shows as a dirt track
Its not only the surface thats fresh, that looks like a fresh Richard III in the road to my trained eye
Further on and its the Huai Miang reservoir and here theres a recently deserted restaurant
All the tables have the empty plates from a recent meal and surprisingly the contents were all eaten, no wastage here
The rather cloudy reservoir
About 1.5 metres below capacity
Apart from the one on the right these too all had empty plates on the tables
I ride to the 1080 turn right then after a few km take a right onto the 2023 to enjoy a scenic ride back through a side road
This rejoins the 1081 and I ride back to Nan
Pork ribs, double fries and onions for 190 Baht at Tonys Place
