The back brake is making metal on metal noises and closer inspection reveals the pads are down to metal in only 5400 km

Back in town at Kawasali having the rear brake pads changed

These were 290 Baht, genuine Nissin ones were 750 Baht, I try out the cheaper ones and they very quickly bedded in, hopefully they will last a lot longer

I cant believe 5400 km did this to them, the KLX 250 did I think 24,000 km on a rear set

Roast pork, stuffing, potatoes and gravy at Thomas's house for Christmas dinner

Rice cake dessert, thoroughly delicious too

Wow your pads did wear out pretty quick Colin, Looks like the police are making plans for donations for the new year party with the speed notice, not very often you see that on the main highways i suspect they will put up bogus radar traps to catch riders.

i've used those Lockte pads before. They didn't last any longer but cheap enough...by memory less than 50 baht at the spares place on chiang moi rd CM.
Might pay to buy a few sets.

Thanks for that info Lew, the originals did 5400 km for 750 Baht so that's 720 km per 100 Baht, the new ones need to do 2100 km to be as cost effective.
I want to evaluate them properly before using them in the front brake though
