The route 101, 1216, 1217, 1342, 1134, 4018, 1101, 1024, Unknown,
Total distance 307 km
On a cloudy muggy murky morning I make my way out along the 101 for about seventy km then take a left onto the 1216
I take a right onto the 1217 and the surface along here leaves a lot to be desired
Lots of sacks of maize waiting to be picked up
Theres a lot of this plus some major potholes thrown in for good measure
I take a right onto the 1342
I am disappointed by the lack of greenery up here but at least its not on fire yet
The Mae Thang Reservoir in the distance
I ride down a narrow concrete road to the reservoir then realise there must be another entrance
A bit further on at N18.13.903 E100.18.747 I take a left on an unnumbered road and ride 2 km to the reservoir
The car park is at N18.13.185 E100.19.299 and there are some floating restaurants here
I ride on taking a few other roads then its onto the 1024 and here the scenery improves
A few km along the 1024 at N18.07.036 E100.17.854 I take a right onto a narrow unnumbered concrete road
That finishes 9.7 km later at this village at N18.05.204 E100.18.990
On the way back I stop for photos at what I assume is the view point, top marks for the spelling
This concrete road is in perfect condition
Back on the 1024 and see how brown the grass is compared to a photo of the same spot that Johpa posted recently, what a difference a month or two makes
I ride to the end of the 1024 and take a right onto the 1342, instead of turning left onto the 1217 I ride on down to a small village where a concrete road runs out the other side, I usually ride to the end of this going up a steep hill then turn around
Today it keeps on going then turns into a new asphalt road I ride to this village then stop as its getting too late to ride it any further
I mark it here as N18.12.564 E100.25.386 and hopefully this is the road that will lead to Na Muen that Johpa spoke about, I will try it from the Na Muen end tomorrow
Back on the 1217, a rough surface but great scenery
Tonys special tonight was a whole roast baby chicken, gravy, a double portion of saute potatoes, onions and a yorkshire pudding for 238 Baht, it was lovely and all of it was consumed tonight.
