MB Single track sunday ride- Northern Thailand - Nham Prae - 2 Betas, DRZ, KTM and a KLX - Down the river to the Moto Bistro Hut

Five of us showed up at Moto Bistro Single track Sunday ride May 5th around 9am. Took us about an hour to get going. I had been busy rebuilding Ricks front suspension the night before I was not prepared very well. We stopped off for fuel before heading up Ob Khan national park road. Turned off on a dry rocky single track trail which heads south east towards Mae Wang. Very Hot day but all were happy to be out riding. It helped knowing we were headed to the Mae Khanin river to hopefully get our boots wet.

Out of the single tracks and headed to Mae Wang to pick up the river trail

Not sure what this river is but Pond and I had rode up it a few days earlier trying to find a dirt route to the Mae Khanin.

The river bed was firm so no dramas getting stuck this time...

Ra had some battery issues. No kick starter on the DRZ400 so we ended up swapping my battery into his bike to continue on.

Looked swampy but no issues

Big Rick blasted right up the levy embankment almost taking with off the other side. Well not really but he had me thinking he might for a moment

Pictures from my Gopro on the single tracks prior to reaching the first river crossing.

I rode the trail alone two days prior to this ride just after a rain and it was sweet. You would not know it had rained two days before by looking at the pictures this day.

We headed out towards Mae Wang and the Mae Khanin river on the levy road. It was dusty but not to bad.

We made it to the Mae Khanin river trail and riding towards the Ob Khan Nat. park

Rick getting a little squirrely and making a nice save.

Thankfully he thought twice and decided to take the safer bet.

Very fun and scenic route... guess that's why we're always riding home on it...

We've been cutting in a new section of trail so we do not disturb the farmer at the end of the trail.

Stop off for some Jungle Chicken and a cold beer.

Back on the trail headed to the Moto Hut.

Big Rick nearly lassos his on a thick hanging vine. He went to his default setting... Gas It and made it through

Little log hop with a nice save at the end. You can see he gassed it straighten him self out.

Nearly pulled it off. Just missed riding out of it by a couple feet. We made this rut nice and deep on the Moto Hut clean up ride with the truck and trailer.

Exact same place I fell on my ass after getting the monster tuck stuck a couple months ago. The rut is quite deep considering those are 37inch tires

Nice hat and smile from the lady.

Locals going home after enjoying a day in Ob Khan.

This corner caught Rick out on the way home. A blind corner with a rise and a blind corner. I've almost gone down in the same corner not paying attention.

As soon as I came out of the corner I had a funny feeling and looked over my shoulder. Sure enough Big Rick was standing on the bank with Ra and Pond bike parked in the road.

He came into the corner a little to hot and washed the front end out.

Probably better to lay it down rather than hitting the barbed wire and into the pond.

Of course he said he was okay but I could hear in his voice he had the wind knocked out of him. He must have rolled to his feet quickly because when I looked over my shoulder he was already on his feet.

He tore up the nice bandage job I applied at the Moto Hut.

Pretty sure he took a handle bar to the rib.

Making sure he did not break his collar bone or dislocate his should.

Old goat is tough as nails... Gave the thumbs up and we were on our way.

Look like he was not the first to be surprised by this corner.

Still smiling... Don't know many 70+ year old that could take this kind of punishment and keep going. He did spend a day close to home but was back at it the next day.
