Man loses right foot from landmine in Sa Kaew

A man’s right foot was blown off when he stepped on a landmine at the Thai-Cambodian border in Sa Kaew’s Ta Phraya district on Saturday morning, police said. The victim was identified as Surasak Promsu, 44, a resident of Ban Thap Thai village in tambon Thap Thai in Ta Phraya.

Police were alerted of the incident at 9.50am. Pol Captain Watcharapong Chinwong, commander of the border patrol company in the tambon, said the man stepped on the landmine about 20 metres from Sriphen Road.

So once more a warning - Watch out along the Thai/Cambodia border as there are still many areas which have not been scanned landmines, etc. The same is valid for many areas in Laos so stay on the tracks and be very careful if you will have to leave the existing tracks
