The Route 108, 1266, 1270, 3010
Total Distance 154 km
I ride to Mae La Noi then take a right onto the 1266 and after about 5 km its just haze and I am wondering how much worse this will get
The view to the north
To the south
I ride on and a few km later I was thankfully above it and a much nicer view
Its a good surface for most of the way then turns to unpaved before Huai Hom
At Huai Hom and a coffee is being brewed for me
I get bananas as well today
I ride back the way I came then take a left onto a road that doesnt appear on any of my paper maps but the ESRI shows it going across to the 1270, or the dirt track that heads south to the 1270.
It goes through Huai Ha and fuel is sold here from a hand pump at N18.22.403 E098.04.570
Apart from a few very short bits of concrete it was a dirt track ride until I reached the 3010
The road forks and the right only shows as going for a short way so I stay to the left
The scenery was a lot better than I was expecting after encountering that haze earlier on, a good interesting ride on some new tracks for me today
I reach the 1270 and turn right onto it
I see a village through the trees to my right and I guess this was where that other fork went to
At times I can make good progress on a fairly solid surface then at other times its deep bulldust slowing me right down
This area has to be cabbage central, they are growing everywhere along here today
I am approaching Santitham now where I will take a right to enjoy the 3010 back to Mae Sariang
Now on the dirt section of the 3010
There is a tap here and some of these are drinking from it while others are soaking themselves
Burning has taken place here since I rode here over a week ago
I take a right to ride the dirt track past the hot springs and which I am told will take me back to the 108
Its a bumpy dusty track with a lot of traffic on it but I guess its a short cut for them
The bridge to nowhere
But a nice shiny new one next to it.
I ride on back to the 108 and this track is a mixture of dirt, bits of concrete and potholed asphalt pretty much all the way to the 108
Moo Kata for 108 Baht
