Early start as the objective was to locate the Howitzer at the Lima 36 site which had evaded me in the past, the trail is as rutted as ever and although it gets lot's of traffic, infact there used to be a tourist sign for the place the trail up never appears to gets fully graded.

More detailed information of the history of Lima 36 here.

The rising sun didn't help picking a good line either.

PB250690 by Bob Kelly, on Flickr

Some sections still a bit slick with the morning dew.

PB250692 by Bob Kelly, on Flickr

Some of the steep sections even the locals choose to dismount.

Not the most enjoyable ride as you have to keep you wits about you.

Soon at Na Khang village, first stop the old bullet ridden fuel drum's.

We decided to park up, i had a rough location of the gun so we marched off going round in circles but still no gun. Not to be outdone we spotted some local farmers and one of them agreed to take us to it. Little did we know we had been 15 metres away from the damn thing.

Sadly we got as far as Tamla medical centre and the local police came out and turned us around, only 3 km from the village they simply would not let us pass saying their was nothing for us to see and we should go back…

Stopped by the new Tamla school all the kid's shy of the camera.

When we were there in February this year there was a search party looking for remains of US service men which were killed during a crash of a helicopter delivering parts for the Tacan site. The Big Fellah wanted to fly the drone over there but no luck as the search team had blocked all electronic signals in that area. In order to locate the big gun ask for a guide in the village as there is a trail going to it which has been cleared of Uxo lying around it.

Thanks for that Auke, i did notice a number of holes in the gun location which presumably is from the uxo guys. The ladies in the village had hair down to their knees (sure that the lyric from a Beatles song)

Never noticed the sign this time.
