Found a few spare hours to ride the CRF on some dirt tracks and to continue familiarisation with the new Montana 650, so followed my friend's advice ....

... and headed that way.

Called in to an OTOP (Our Tambon Our Product) factory which specialises in pickled mango, garlic and ginger and where the prices are very fair.

They have a shop which is open every day until 5-00pm.
No English but a good chance to impose badly spoken Thai onto the friendly folk there.

The pickled garlic is good in a salad and only 90 baht.
The pickled ginger only 40 baht.

Then some back roads, without having a particular destination in mind, I stumbled upon this lake/reservior (and overlooked hitting 'save' after logging it!)

It's really nice riding out the back of Doi Saket; so many small tracks heading off in all directions and all types of road surfaces.
And no traffic!

I rode many small tracks for an hour or so, just taking in the scenery then found myself here...

The Chiang Mai Toy Ride supported this orphanage a couple of years ago.
Very friendly staff and children, who don't mind an unannounced visitor calling in for a chat.
They are rightly proud of the place.

There's a nice cool, quiet and shady spot beside the water and Temple where light snacks and cold drinks can be bought. Open every day until 5-50pm.

GPS set to 'Coffee and Shower' and it took me home via some lovely backroads ...

Liking the CRF on dirt and minor tracks.
Love the Montana 650.

Fantastic pics there Ron, what a lovely route.

Streak eared bulbul taking second place and oriental magpie robin taking first place in the shower ;)

Thank you Ally.
Please continue to ID my bird pics and I'll add the info to my albums.

Another fine ride there Ron, I am looking forward to getting back to Chiang Mai and hopefully team up with some new offroad riders

Ron - If I hadn't seen your name at the top, I could have mistaken that for one of the Captains! Nice shots

Cap, yes I'd be happy to ride with you. But will we recognise the New Captain when he arrives?
Thanks Phil; it's a good area for riding.

Hi Monsterman,

Garmin Montana 650.
No mods for the CRF apart from those hard plastic hand guards.
I might get the muffler modified and leave it at that (unless some-one discovers brilliant CRF mods that actually work.)
That might be a new thread some time later.
