Not sure if this has been posted before but in case you need a Visa for Laos (for instance for the Bueng Kan crossing where there is no visa-on-arrival you can get it at the Laos Embassy in Bangkok or at the Laos Consulate in Khon Kaen.

The consulate has moved from the east side of town to the north and you can find it now on Highway 2 (Mitthaphap Road) opposite the Raja City Lakeside and Garden Home which you will find between Lotus and the Khon Kaen ring road on the north side of town. They are open Mon-Fri from 9.00 till 12.00 and from 13.00 - 1600

Do you now if they are taking US currency again? They did in the past then about 18 months ago they stopped and only accepted Thai Baht, which for a Canadian translates into an extra 400 baht or so.
Sure looks a lot nicer than their old place.

They only asked for Baht (did not ask if I could pay in USD) and indeed their pricing is a "BIT" of a rip off

Anyone know how much they get for a Lao visa in KK ?

I was there years ago and if you wanted the visa the same day it was much more maybe 15 USD.
If you wanted regular price you had to come back in 5 days.
Thanks,
Al

I did stop in the Consulate yesterday in KK. The price of a visa is 1600 baht, they do not take USD. The visa takes about 10 min.
I will cross at Bueng Kan - Paksan and they don't have VOA in Paksan so you need it in advance.
Cheers,
Al
