Knobby Knife is a powerful, 100-watt heating tool that maintains over 500 degrees heat while cutting rubber. With its patent pending blade made of high quality tool steel you will be able to quickly and easily sharpen the knobbies of your worn dirt bike tires saving you time and money as you won't be replacing your tires nearly as often.

An interesting idea.

Still $65 for a soldering iron with a blade attached, ain't inexpensive.

Maybe I'll bring one back from the states to give it a go. Maybe we can also have a short skirted PG gal sharpen the tires at Phils restaraunt whilst we eat dinner.

Do you think the unit will drop the 220v voltage to 110v or would it need a converter?

You'll prob blow it up without a transformer

Good idea or not..

I struggle to see how cutting bits off your knobblies, and effectively making them smaller.. Gives.. " gives 3 to 5 times more life to your tire".

If your interested in having your own knobby knife here, usable with 220v, buy a heavy duty soldering gun available locally and have a metal shop convert one of the existing bits into a similar blade.

Kind of what I was thinking as well.

Possibly meant for moto x racing.
Once the sharp/square edge of the knob is gone, most guys that race seriously will put a new tyre on.
Cut a new edge, you get another race out of the tyre.

Some blokes have been known to just use an angle grinder with a cutting disc on it.

Bigntall; I would not try using a 110v here in Thailand with 220v in the outlets, much easier and cheaper as someone else suggested to just buy a chunky solder iron and make a new tip, will set you back no more than 300 Baht all in.

Yeah it`s that sharp leading edge that gives the good traction.not uncommon in the pits in days gone by to see guys sharpening knobs for the final race of the day. Certainly extends the useable life of a tyre.

My KDX rear is screaming out for it now.
