Just stopped by my local Kawasaki/Yamaha dealer to see what's new and the manager gave me two brochures - the naked and faired 250SL single.
Says ABS on the brochures, looks like it doesn't come without, but that wasn't clear.
The engine, of course, is the one from the KLX/Tracker, says 28hp/9,700rpm and 2.3kgf-m (22.6 Nm) @ 8,200 rpm.
110 front, 130 rear, seat height 780mm, 151 or 152 kg.
The naked SL comes in a reddish orange or green, sporting some kind of trellis frame; the Ninja in "Honda-red" or white, with black tanks which looks quite interesting.
And the good news:
118,000 THB for the naked version, called
Z250SL, and
121,500 THB for the
Ninja 250SL, the faired model. Available next month!
That should be below the CBR250R price, if it's still available; the 300 versions are a bit more dear, making the 250SL the cheaper entry-level bike.
Smart move, Kawasaki!
While everybody is waiting for Honda to up its game with a 300cc twin Kawasaki builds a cheapo 250 single using a proven engine!
